Which damage type is most effective against Guristas?

Since you brought it up, no. For drones you want Caldari for Guristas and Serpentis, Gallente for Blood Raiders, Sansha, Rogue Drones, mercenaries, and elite Angel frigs, and Minmatar for other Angels.


Huh. I'll have to pick up some Hornet II's and Vespa II's and check that out; I honestly thought that the Gallente drones' damage multipliers offset the resistance difference, given that they seem to do a good job for me when it comes to shredding Gurista rats. (I know for a fact that for projectiles, like 1400 artillery, Phased Plasma's thermal damage packs more of a punch against Guristas per bullet than Titanium Sabot's kinetic damage, but that's probably because Plasma's a shorter-range round.)


They do about the same damage to Guristas especially but since the caldari drones have better speed and tracking than the gallente/thermal ones, they have better damage projection. On the other hand, thermal drones cover already a lot rat types so using them on guristas also doesnt hurt. Its up to personal favor to spend isk and time to switch to caldari/kin ones.

Personaly i never use kinetic drones exept for Wardens. I do missions in Amarr space and there i come across 3 missions with guristas rats(The assault, Intercept the saboteurs, Dread pirate scarlet) where i use the thermal ones with Wardens(Ogre, Garde, Hobs and Wardens). If i did missions in Caldari space, i would also use kinetic drones (setup would be Wasps, Garde, Wardens, Hornets). So after all its up to personal favor to use caldari drones for guristas.

Note the one discrepency: there's a common Angel elite frig with really ****** up resists that I didn't use as a comparison point. For that specific type, thermal is hands down better. (These guys if you're curious.) Oh, and Spider Drone IIs have uniform resists, meaning thermal wins. The spider drone line in the spreadsheet refers to Is.

Best choices in each category are bolded. Speed is, of course, not taken in to account; where thermal is only marginally a better choice you might be able to make an argument for dropping to the second choice (usually EM; applies to elite BR/Sansha/Drones but only the elite versions so...)

Edit: none of this applies to sentries. Just in case that wasn't clear.
