Suuuuuuure.

Edit: You can easily do all the things you posted about while still having time for EVE. You just choose not to do those other things and spend your time on EVE instead and in the end you sound like you're blaming EVE for your laziness to do anything else. EVE wasn't keeping you from other goals, you were.

Not to toss gas on the fire...

But if you think EVE players are punks, the world of running your own business is gonna be a hell of a lot more interesting.

Take it easy.

(...)Beyond the reasons above I am also sick of the player base. The vast majority of the players are just jerks or selfish petulant children. One just wants to bully everyone else and the other just wants to whine and cry and throw a tantrum until they get their way. You cannot be left alone to enjoy yourself, or the company of friends, without often being bothered by either type(...)

Unfortunately there is a lot of truth here! By comparison, the community today has become horrid and seems to be one of the major reasons why Eve cant seem to grow as it did several years ago or retain a more friendlier player base.

Huh? My first trial was five years ago, and not much has changed with the community ...oh heck may have improved some. Then again maybe I've just grown more cynical in general so fit in better.

EVE only took a hit after Incarna, monoclegate, greed is good etc. Blaming the community is rather sad. Yes, EVE is dying™ and it's the communities fault Roll thanks for the fish.

sad-sad-sad Ugh

You know, when you think about it, real money as you put it is no less fake than the in game money. It's all about the value you define for your currency.

Unless you define real as tangible. In which case that's an extremely limited definition that deny things that are real.

To be honest, you sound like you played for far to long after the enjoyment left. I see this a lot in MMO players. Its ok to find new interests and hobbies, and for your priorities to change over time. It is important that you realize that just like you actions in the game were completely driven by you own choices, so are your action in real life. EvE isn't the boogie man here. You just let your own priorities get out whack for too long, and the realization has made you bitter.

I hope that one day that you come to appreciate the enjoyment you got out of the game, the fun you had and the relationships that you formed, as a result of being a part of this community. Focus on those things and try not to be so hard on yourself. We all have our coulda/shoulda moments, but it rarely productive beyond helping guide our future decisions. It is important to also know why you "didn't" leave, and try to bring thay experience to your new endevours so you can express you passions and dreams onward to your goal.

Good luck to you, and I wish you best.

You hit the nail on the head there. I had a blast a lot of the time, but for the last year or so it has been fleeting enjoyment regardless of how much or often I play.

Thank you and everyone for taking the time to respond. I edited the first post to give a little more detail.

Take care all.

I've found the best way to get your girlfriend/wife off your back about playing EVE Online is to get them hooked on World of Warcraft.

If you feel like a game is work then it's you that is the problem, not the game.

You should also HTFU and tell your wife you're not going to wear that skirt anymore.

Btw, the game didn't waste the last 5 years of your life, you did. If you can't handle EVE and the people that play it, you're going to have a really miserable time of running your own company.
