Ah thanks for the advice, someone a while ago gave me the Badger for free and told me it was a good ship for mining.

EVE is a game where someone can play for months or years and still be terrible at it.

The person who told you the Badger was a good mining ship is clearly one of these people.

I am proof positive of this statement.

FC, what do?

A mining frigate is the way to go until you train up for a Retriever. For the brand new solo miner, a Retriever is the best thing you could get into and will serve you well until you make the jump into Exhumers.

This used to be true. But the recent changes to mining barges changed this. You dont have to sit in a retriever until you can fly a hulk. Each mining barge now has a purpose and a role, depending on your 'style' of mining.

double post cause IDGAF

J'Poll you are awesome, but as of late I think you need to recalibrate your troll sensors.Blink

Then again I could be wrong.

OP: Untill we get the winter expansion were kind of in a transition period here when it comes to mining. When the winter expansion hits the dedicated ore mining frigate will be made by ORE and no longer will there be individual racial mining frigates. Currently the amar dont have one.

If you insist on mining at a low level, get your ship to maximize yield, and dont refine your own rock untill you get standing and good enough refine that your close to 100%. Remember with ship standings if they dont like you they take a cut of your refine.

At early level sell in bulk. Mine up a big bunch. Then load all the **** into your badger mark two and haul it to market.

Yes untill you have a ship with a bigger cargo hold, you will need to jet can mine.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

I'm a fairly new player, although I already own a nice mining ship, Badger Mark II.

I'm near a station that has an agent that gives mining missions. I want to know if it's better for me to do the missions to make ISKs or to just mine and sell for profit.

Mining missions are crap for isk.. however, they are fairly quick to do and therefore good way to increase standing rather quickly. Can be done with active tank mining barge/exhumer with some resists in higher levels. The number of available mining missions are also limited and will become VERY boring from so much repetition. If you choose to do them, make sure all Sharp/pointy objects are removed from the room to avoid the inevitable need to maim yourself in some grotesque fashion.

Okay, will recalibrate my sensors. Maybe cause I've been busy with work and didn't pay attention to the forums / EVE as much as usually they got dusty.

That's hilarious. I actually don't mind doing that (well I don't mind mining, I do mind maiming myself). Or at least I haven't gotten to the point where I think it's totally boring and annoying. And I have a TV next to my computer so I got something to watch while I mine as well. Helps pass the time.

I like being a crafter/gatherer type in games. That's the reason I joined EVE. It's the best I've seen at that type of gameplay.
