At what point is a fleet considered a blob?

A fleet is considered a blob when it's bigger than your fleet. The actual numbers don't matter. Lol

The enemy officially has a blob when they have more pilots than you.

2 - 30 = Small gang
31 - 100 = Large gang
101 - ?? = Blob

Or if they outnumber you 2.5:1

There are a few things to take into consideration when using the term blob. When a group of small hulled ships engage a smaller group for larger hulled ships then I wouldn't call it blobing. However when the reverse is the case and a group of larger hulled ships engages in a group equal in size or smaller of smaller hulled ships, then you could consider that blobing.

When a group of smaller ships needs to ensure they have enough ships to generate the needed DPS to break another groups local or logistical reps of a larger EHP ship then its good tactics. However when the roles are reversed and the smaller hulled ship group is outgunned and or lacks logistical support then I would call it overkill.

Personally I don't think the term 'blob' can be ascribed to a particular size of fleet. Large fleets are simply fleets.

I think a blob occurs when one fleet completely decimates a comparatively smaller one, whether that's 10 vs 1, 100 vs 10 or 1000 vs 100.

This is how I see sizes of fleets, having been both a highsec PvPer and a nullsec PvPer:

Solo: 1 pilot (duh)
Duo: 2 pilots (duh)
Small gang: 3 - 20 pilots.
Large gang: 20 - 50 pilots.
XL gang: 50 - 150 pilots.
Blob: 150+ pilots.

Wouldn t it be easier just to say fleet for 50+ ships
Like several posters mentioned , you are in a fleet , they alxays in a blob

A fleet becomes a blob the moment the size exceeds any reasonable amount of pilots it would take to beat an enemy.

When you engage 2 enemies with 3-4 ships who cares, but if you bring 10-20 people it's way more than you would ever need even if you are ******** and lack skillpoints = BLOB!!

Depends.

1 wing single squad is probably a gang but 1 wing and two squads looks like a blob if you fall alone in the middle of them. Lol

If you are bringing equal numbers to a fight then you have already failed. There should never be a fair fight in pvp.
