Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" was written after playing concerts in Iceland in 1970. Just some trivia. That is all. Smile

"Immigrant Song"

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

Ah, ah,
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green, can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war. We are your overlords.

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore.

So now you'd better stop and rebuild all your ruins,
For peace and trust can win the day despite of all your losing.

Ha, Led Zeppelin's lyrics are mostly shite IMO. But for viking metal, I do like the Finnish band Moonsorrow. Probably because the lyrics are in Finnish and I can't understand them.... Big smile

eluveitie and amon amarth are probably my favs in that genre. leave's eyes isn't bad but it's more on the side of "gothic/symphonic" since its female vocals.

I really like the Trent Reznor / Karen O version of this song from the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo soundtrack.
