Random blue/pink lines and or entire screen filled with graphical glitches?

This seems to happenen when I fire missile launchers with the trails etc turned on. I'm using ATI with the latest catalyst drivers. This only seemed to happen fairly recently when the new missile launcher trails were introduced. I don't have a screenshot as I'm not posting from home.

Sometimes it's so bad that I cant actually see anything on the screen.

If I reposition the camera (zoom level and/or direction) I can sometimes get around the giltches and see whats happening.

Often these glitches stay in space, so if I move away, I can see them there. There are variations of a blue dotted line, pink flashing boxes?! and yellow things. I've even had a weird rotating blue line also, very strange.

Anyone else getting this problem and/or have any workaround (other than totally turning down the graphics).

Oh and yes, I still sometimes get ghost stargates and stations sometimes (which almost immediately follows with a client crash...)

There's also the issue with little black pixels covering the screen either partially or totally? Again, moving the ship/camera and/or zoom level sometimes "fixes" the problem but the issue is localised in 'space' if this makes any sense?

It's like there's an object created at a specific spot where your ship was? Anyone else get this issue?

Is there nobody even looking in to graphical corruption issues at all? What possible workarounds exist? Honestly, sometimes these effects get so bad, the game is almost unplayable. I don't fancy having to keep relogging every few minutes to fix this problem.

I'm thinking it maybe linked to the missile trails smoke? As these effects only appear to happen after I fire missiles. Is there any debug I can give to help push this issue along? I'm thinking my directX diagnostics aren't going to be that great a help?

I have a Radeon 5780 HD Sapphire graphics card, Win Xp 64bit.

Have you tired turning off GPU particles under the eve graphics settings yet? I noticed you said it seems to happen after you launch or see missiles. Turning that off should turn off the missile effects and possibly fix your issue.

Also back when I had a ATI/AMD card I noticed turning off the catalyst A.I. on the actual catalyst control panel for the video card (if thats even what they call it now) fixed a lot of problems I had.

Confirming that I have seen the same thing... Quite psychedelic but not very good for gameplay.

Good to know someone else has the issue, maybe a dev will look into it now.

Catalyst AI? Where should I look for that setting? Is this something that modifies the graphics quality according to it's AI rules or something? It's not something I've noticed before?

The Catalyst AI is a setting in your Catalyst Control Centre. Turning it off has been known to resolve graphics problems such as the one you describe.

If that fails to resolve the problem then as suggested by Commissar Kate turning off the 'GPU Particles' setting may help. You can find this setting in the middle column of the 'Display and Graphics' tab of the game menu.

I'll try disabling the catalyst AI thing and see if that improves the issue.

But turning off the nice missile trails kinda defeats the object... Isn't a fix better than a workaround to get rid of something that causes a problem?

I kinda like my missile trails, without them you can't even see how far away your missiles are or indeed what target they are rushing towards.

I have been suffering from graphics breakup of this sort of nature when missiles are fired. sometimes just coloured blobs around my ship or complete breakup of picture with cyan lines, minimising and restoring the screen has cleared it for me (not always a fun idea in the middle of a fight).

I'm using Win XP with a gtx550i gfx card.

Well I've checked my catalyst driver settings, and their doesn't appear to be an option to turn Catalyst AI off? There are 3D settings, which I have set to narrow-tent anti-aliasing etc, but where is this AI option? Maybe another driver version?
