I've been "doing it wrong" so it seems. I've been running minor plexes and just hoping kills would come to me w/o much luck. I've left gates pretty much alone because fast frigs are almost impossible to catch when they're blowing through gates. But then it struck me, I don't have to catch them on the first gate, I can watch where they go and continue to pursue them until they make a mistake.

Also I now realize I do not have to limit myself to frigates. Anything bigger is easy to catch. I just need the experience to know in advance what my executioner can and cannot kill. My tackling skills are going to have to improve some but so far it's working well. Got a frig and hauler kill in my first 30 minutes so far.

I'm a bit surprised there's no guide for running targets down like this. I've read several pirating guides which mention stuff like "hunting down that mythical belt ratter" ect ect. But nothing on monitoring gates and then chasing your quarry down.

Little ships can't sustain gate gun fire. Same with station pirating. You go GCC and the npc guns fire on you.

Solo frigate PvP is kind of a job. You might have to lose a few ships to find out what you can and can't do. Depends on the opponent and his skills as well.

Im in FW :) No gate guns when attacking WTs.

Soloing on gates is bit hard because of mechanics.

Enemy can try to burn back to gate and jump or they can try to take range and get our of tackle range, so if you want to kill something i has to be done almost instantly or you need ship that can slow down enemy enough to get it killed.
Still you need a ship that can fight against enemy if he decides to fight. Also if you pirate you need ship that can tank sentries.

Best way to fight on gates is to have at least one friend waiting on the other side of gate so you can play ping pong with enemy who jumps back.

You have been plexing in the wrong systems my friend. Try Vard, Dal and Sasawongs home system (starts with an L right next to Dal) for some action. Alternately try the Roushe Area. Anything close to a system with a minnie base garuntees whatever is comming in the plex is coming in with at least twice your numbers.

Be smart about engagements and learn to smell a trap (something I was terrible at during my days in amarr).

Believe it or not I used to take my hookbill (prior to them making condors/executioners/slashers/atrons worth a damn) to Arzad early euro time and would smack local up a bit. The would derp into me and I would get like two or three kills untill they got sick of it and sent in the gank squad.

Also the Lamma to Arzad pipe is full of chances to start up a minor plex and get a fight.

Just be aware 9 out of ten times if it's not a thrasher comming for your executioner (I learned to use td's early to counter thrashers) it is a two or three ship blob. Even the odds if two or three ships show up bur way off the button see if someone will derp to far from his friends to come get 'tackle' on you.

This is true if you are flying the well known overpimped ships. If you are flying which looks like an easy kill you have good chances the enemy will engage you if you tackle him if he doesn't smell the blob comming. (Which means if the system is not full of his enemy faction.)

Anyway, I really love to hear that there are still some Amarr existing who have balls to fight without 4 Guardians and 2 ECM boats in fleet. (We should also not forget the mandatory boosting alt.)

The best 1 man gate camper is Santo Trafficante.

He is also the most loathed person in FW space insofar as I know.

He also has killed bazillions in pods/frigs.

He also rarely loses ships, especially not to gate guns.
