Marauder 4 or 5?

I got an alt which currently is training marauders , slowly working his way to 4.

http://eveboard.com/pilot/Gireo_Kindren_Khazani

I know he's lacking a few supports right now such as
- drone supports
- rigging skills still low
- navigation skills could use some work.

Would you suggest i get those skills up first, drone supports to 4, relevant rigging skills to 4. aswell as some of the navigation skills to 5, primarly agility and direct speed bonuses and then go for marauder 5?.

Or will Marauder 5 make a major difference on a Vargur at all? Yes i know the mach is the "better" mission ship dps and speedwise compared to Vargur, but i like the Vargur and i have decided to keep the character pure minmatar. Aswell as i like the tanking, falloff, tracking and RoF.

Thing about the RoF, while it does not have a direct dps increase like the mach, the RoF bonus still adds straight up dps.

Anyway, what's your thoughts on this matter?

I don't think marauder 5 will make much difference.

Drones to deal with pesky frigate npcs. I would suggest drone interfacing 5 before marauder 5.

You mentioned the RoF bonus. that is from the minmatar BS skill which you need at 5 anyhow.

Marauders 5 is necessary for the Paladin, decent on the Golem, okish on the Vargur, and kind of meh on the Kronos. So no, in your case I'd probably skip it in favor of many, many more important support skills. For a start:

Drone Interfacing 5
Drone Navigation 4
Drone Durability 4
Caldari Drone Specialization 2
Signature Analysis 5
Long Range Targeting 5
Targeting 5/Multitasking 3
Shield Upgrades 5
Rapid Firing 5
Surgical Strike 5
Trajectory Analysis 5
Projectile Weapon Rigging 4
Shield Rigging 4
Science 4/Thermodynamics 4

...plus lots of navigation skills.

Good post but this might be slightly confusing for the OP Big smile

Nah, the post made mostly sense to me, the extra shield boost you get from marauder 5 is nice i admit. But some fair points has been raised. So i decided to load in suggested skills and a few other skills i found myself needed. So now once he gets marauder 4 he has 5 months of support skills just to make the vargur as efficent as possible ahead of him.

Thanks for all the advice so far

Okay, to clarify without trying to sound like a jerk. All those supports are rigging, drone ,navigation and such oriented and not marauder 5. The list is to long to list everything.

Oddly, it's the tracking that's actually attractive. The last 7.5% boost bonus on an already easily tanked ship isn't all that helpful when running missions. Might be nice in null complexes but otherwise it's a bit of a waste.

I enjoy my Marauder V.

Though, for the life of me I have no idea what it would be like without. Can't remember.

Its a great bonus to have it at lvl 5, it make a difference. I can only imagine how long it takes to train as I did it in less than 10 seconds.

Marauders V is what I'd call a capstone skill. Train it after getting everything else you want/need to proper levels. Drones, various electronics and mechanics skills are what I'd concentrate on if I were you. I'd even get Cybernetics V before going for marauders V (gunnery implants!)
