Is EVE in maintenance mode? Lack of tangible progress is somewhat frustrating.

To me, it is more like CCP has A.D.D. They come up with a great idea (PI) and then put in the basics and then they move on to walking in stations, put in the foundation and then move on to another idea. Listen to CCP talk about PI and what it was going to be about. It is not even close to what they talked about at fanfest YEARS ago.

I just wish they could make a list and focus on the list and not move to the next item until the previous item is at least 75% done. It just seems like they continue to put foundations in and then leave the system abandoned while they work on the next big idea that does not actually affect Eve such as WoD or Dust.

Why sure it is fun to be a part of a full fleet of 256 dudes, holding our dicks on the titan cus once in a while we get to blow our loads http://eve-kill.net/?a=kill_related&kll_id=14448183
I mean if you get off by the thought of a bunch of dudes emoting each other pretend-drinking in a bar on a computer screen then vOv.

I generally could care less for the features in the OP.

I think I"m not alone on this, which is probably why CCP isn't prioritizing such stuff.

First off, I KNOW it isn't in maintenance mode, but thats how it seems on the surface at times. I've seen over the last few months a bunch of amazing brainstorming ideas from notably, Soundwave and Bayesian. Soundwave's idea of ring mining and pos revamp is frikking amazing and needed to happen a long time ago. Likewise, why did the Incarna devblog get swallowed up?

It seems like the last expansion, a couple before it and apparently (this is me being jaded btw) the next one for winter isn't going to have anything remotely tangible in it.

I dunno, I'm just wondering, because I'm not far from being able to fly every single subcap ingame and fit them however I want.

Stuff I'm wondering about and wanting to see happen in no particular order, just any of it would be nice:

When will PI be something that does something other than serve to give me arthritis?

When will me and my friends be able to own our own bar in a station somewhere of our choosing?

When will I be able to fully separate myself from the need for stations via greyscale's "small holdings" concept?

when will ring mining happen?

when will I be able to consider wanting to deal with starbases again because they're not just a giant alliance/corporation asset to look after and babysit?

In other words, is CCP just taunting us with these ideas, or are they going to happen at some point within the next 2-3 years? Because, right now, its hard sometimes to see CCP's attention span holding out long enough to do any of it.

I started New Years Eve of 2009 and they still haven't put lots of things in that they were talking about then.

Mark my words, DUST 514 comes out and gets subscribers on board then Sony announces they are buying CCP. Just you wait and see.

You will have more development, just not in the way you'd want it.

That would be unfortunate, because thats the line where I push eject and GTFO.

Another one obsessed with emoting and possible a barbie trauma too i guess.

You guys keep bringing that sh*t up every time again and again and don,t want to talk about the extra WIS could add to EvE .if done in a good way.
Sure ,a lot want to have the social areas, but thats could only be a side affect to WIS ,If WIS is done right
I want some social stuff in it,but only corp and /or consolecrap (planetbarbies IdeaBlink) related i don,t care about bars or poker or dancing .

It's just too risky with all the dressup-emote loving barbie freaks around. They are the ones holding back wis.

To be honest I'm not as upset about them not adding new stuff as I am about them adding 'watered down' content.

Almost everything they talk and rave about in blogs and fanfest presentations ends up a kind of poor approximation.

I mean, remember the awesome "sleeper AI" that was going to revolutionise NPCs in game and roll out across the board? Well I guess we're still waiting on that one.

In the crucible of truth it boils down to one factor - Money. Development time costs a lot of money, and I'm fairly sure CCP developers would love to let their imaginations run riot and do all the things they talk about, but when their management tells them actually the developers don't have the budget (time) required for each feature that is when we see content delivered in the fashion we're now accustomed to (watered down).

The money men at CCP are satisfied to keep the players in our current state - low expectations, hyping up the diminishing deliveries but still without any real competitor they can afford to do it because even if just the hardcore stayed I'm sure they could still turn a profit from them.

Just my opinion, don't hate me!

I don't actually disagree with you, to be honest. Thats part of why I'm frustrated. Theres so much they've said they were doing and were planning for... that just never even saw the light of the light of day, nor had a hope of it.

I was trying to run missions recently to raise my standings a bit, and it was just so mindnumbingly boring I said **** this and went and did something else.

Eve is huge. There's something out there for everyone. Right now, we have a huge amount of choice in terms of what we, as players, can do in eve. But despite that, there's a huge number of ships out there which are completely useless, and aren't applicable in *any* aspect of eve. Rebalancing and redesigning existing ships is great because it gives us more choices. Not only can we choose what we do, but now we're getting an increasing amount of options as to *how* we do what we do. That's going to be huge as they get deeper into their Tiericide project. Just be patient. It has wide-reaching implications that affect every single aspect of eve. When it finally reaches whatever it is that you focus on, you're going to have a lot more fun.

After reading about it, I would interested in the "small holdings" bit, or a few tweaks to allow a more nomadic gameplay. If I could make a small unprobable base to keep my stash until I'm ready to trade or have some extra modules to switch out or repair that would be awesome. Might just be enough to get me out of high sec.

I like big guns. I can not lie. You other suckas can't deny. When I warp in, with an itty bity sig, with an arty in your face, you get sprung. You want to pull out your debuffs, 'cause you want to loot my stuff...deep, in a worm with nary, an escape but you can't stop staring. 'Cause, Oh crap!, Baby's got Point!

That would be frikking awesome if I could be truly nomadic. Right now though its entirely unprofitable to do, which is kind of sad.

Been waiting 3 years and 9 months. If any decent space game comes out Eve will die.

Ironically, a Dev posted why Ultima online died, and Eve paralleled his formula all the way to the last step, which was another game in the same genre being released.

Eve isn't "dying", but its standing on a cliff in a windstorm.

I assume you pay with plex? You could easily be nomadic if you were subbing.
