So I've recently been looking into using a Proteus, as I've always wondered what it would be like to fly one and finally have the isk to do so. After roaming around Battleclinic and doing some experimenting with EFT, this is honestly the best looking one I can find for what I'd like to do, which is bop around Low-Sec and possibly w-space, shooting whatever looks like it may die to me.

Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating
Proteus Electronics - Friction Extension Processor
Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Proteus Engineering - Power Core Multiplier
Proteus Propulsion - Localized Injectors

Around 500 dps with Caldari Antimatter, cap lasts ~3.5 minutes, and 105 EHP. Upgrading to faction modules as isk allows, just using T2 to outline the base fit.

Any suggestions? Almost every cloaky Proteus I've seen is trying to run probes at the same time, so some input on one without would be helpful.

Pretty standard fit. I fly almost an identical fit. The only difference is I have a Fed navy MWD, Dark blood scram, and fed navy web.

Not sure of skills but mine runs about 40% cap stable.

Beware of ships that neut, as they will kill your cap quickly. Being cloaky helps as you can choose your target.

Also keep in mind that unlike a stealth bomber, you still get a 5 second wait for lock after decloaking, so make sure to get in a good bump. :-)

If you venture in wormholes solo, you will want a probe launcher. Or a scout with one. If you go in a WH and it collapses behind you, its self destruct an expensive ship and pod express back home.

don't you lose skillpoints for selfdestructing aswell?? if yes, then one option might be just to warp to sleeper site and eject

Dunno,

You could just eject and pod yourself. Leave a nice surprise for someone in the future.

I have a very similar fit , except drone bay. Cap is a big worry imo.

If your not careful you'll be vunerable to a kiiter with warp distrupter. You might consider changing to the capacitor-subsystem for the drone bay to equip ECM drones for better escapability from that.

Unfortunately doing that would put me about quite a bit over on PG, as well as removing a turret slot.

Congrats on your ship choice! Bogeyman, the sum all of fears, the terror from the depths, the cloaky Proteus is pure awesomeness in the field of internet starship pixels!

Some things to consider:

- No counter to neuts? A blasterboat is fully paralyzed without cap. I use a medium NOS, and it gives enough juice(even when fighting a Pilgrim) to keep tackle and toggle the guns.

- No DCU II on a Gallente ship? It gives 23K EHP more.

- Drones. To kill frigs, and to apply damage while you are out of blaster range. Like I-See U said, ECM drones are often your "nano", the only means of bailing out when things start to go wrong. Also your explosive hardeners is turned off by neuts, which might not be so fun. Yes, it will remove a turret, but Hobgoblin IIs give you back 99 dps which is well applied in practical situations. And you have room for 4 flights of lights, which is pretty boss imo. Fitting implants help with all Gallente boats, and are not expensive.

- If you splash for faction stuff, scram and web give solid benefits, increasing the range even more. Long scram range has proven to be extremely useful for such a slow ship. Navy EANMs improve the tank nicely for a reasonable cost.

Good luck!

I'm I mistaken in seeing that only by removing the cloak subsystem can I fit drones, or is there a drone bonus hiding somewhere in one of these?

Yeah, the Augmented Capacitor Reservoir Engineering system.

No bonus to drone damage, but 25 mbit/s for a flight of lights, plus a drone bay of 100m for a crap-ton of spares+ECM Hornets.
