R.I.P. Neil. You are an inspiration and will be remembered for the duration of our species.

Side topic...a CCP tribute to Neil would be great. Perhaps something on one of the moons in the game.

Next time you complain that a trip to Jita takes too long, remember it took this man three days to slowboat from Earth to its moon.

Here is a TRUE anecdote about Neil Armstrong...

When Apollo Mission Astronaut Neil Armstrong first walked on the moon, he not only gave his famous "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" statement but followed it by several remarks, usual communication traffic between him, the other astronauts and Mission Control. Just before he re-entered the lander, however, he made this remark "Good luck Mr. Gorsky."

Many people at NASA thought it was a casual remark concerning some rival Soviet Cosmonaut. However, upon checking, there was no Gorsky in either the Russian or American space programs. Over the years many people questioned Armstrong as to what the "Good luck Mr. Gorsky" statement meant, but Armstrong always just smiled.

On July 5, 1995 in Tampa Bay FL, while answering questions following a speech, a reporter brought up the 26 year old question to Armstrong. This time he finally responded. Mr. Gorsky had finally died and so Neil Armstrong felt he could answer the question.

When he was a kid, he was playing baseball with a friend in the backyard. His friend hit a fly ball, which landed in the front of his neighbor's bedroom windows. His neighbors were Mr. & Mrs. Gorsky.

As he leaned down to pick up the ball, young Armstrong heard Mrs.Gorsky shouting at Mr. Gorsky. "Sex! You want sex?! You'll get sex when the kid next door walks on the moon!"

True story.

Neil Armstrong, one of the 20th century's greatest hero's, if not the greatest. I am not a big fan of many things American, but he is an exception to that.

A man who inspired my generation. The memory of being able to sit in front of our TV in the early hours of the morning to see his ghost like image step onto the moon is still one of the strongest from my childhood.

As I said, I'm not a fan of much from America, but in this occasion I am more then content to put aside my petty bickering and political thoughts to go out tonight, look to the moon and wink in memory of a great man.

makes it even more of a shame that NASA isnt doing any more manned missions, would have been nice for him to get to see man go back to the moon.

I agree, thats a shame.

His name will be written in stone for a long time, if not forever as long as human being. Thanks for all, including the effort for more financial power for the NASA and save nature acitivities. Rest in Peace.

Yea you should use his name in a decent way in EVE. I would prefer a solarsystem or a new non-racial ship. Or let us land on moons in EVE and give us a lander called Armstrong.

I don't get why people keep calling him a great man.

He didn't build the ship. He didn't plan the mission.

Let's say people did land on the moon, and then we didn't go back once in 40 years. What was so special about Neil Armstrong being first down the ladder? Why is he more special than Buzz Aldrin?

Tears will be shed and pants will need to be changed all round.
