Insurance revamp

Its not just about the hi-sec ganking.

Removing insurance from Concord kills, po-po kills, gate gun kills, and station kills would not be a tragedy, and would have an initial yelling and screaming just because its change.

A couple people here hit the nail on the head- the whole insurance system is flawed.

- How about raising insurance rates if you get too many ships killed in a time period?
- How about more expensive premiums based on sec status? Obviously bad guys (like teenage drivers) are a higher risk. Give a good driver discount to 5.0
- Get clever and look at player skills vs the kind of ship? If you don't have at least the recommended certificates to fly it then make the insurance premium higher. Obviously you are a higher risk.
- Where was your last death? People that die in low-sec are obviously a higher insurance risk.
- Don't pay insurance on null-sec deaths. Those ships are just stolen, not blown up. (Like Mitani's claim that all miners are bots)

While I understand the arguments for insurance- "encourages ppl to get blown up", and "Eve doesn't need to be like real life", people gotta realize that the current insurance system is pretty broken.

Make it a little more dynamic- and perhaps allow the full value including mods- just make sure it costs appropriately.

Inferno: almost as fun as chewing used medical syringes.

While it is purposely made with "encourages ppl to get blown up", it may be broken only if it does not encourages enough. Which it may be, may be not, but you are speaking about completely different thing anyway.

you are going to nerf the 0.0 players doing this.

current system of it being based on mineral price index is good enough for now.

Eve isnt like real life players cant die pernamently. Blowing each other up is the number one driving factor in the games economy without ship destruction we'd all be out of a job one way or another.

The nullsec comment was humor, not meant to be serious- sorry it was subtle.

And for high security status some price reductions so?

Why not two type of insurance:

One insurance price would be based on your security status.

The other insurance on the security status where you were when the ship were destroyed.

And the clone insurance?

You could take one or the two...
