heh, funny thing about that, I bought a shuttle on the go too, and somehow got 500m from buying the dang thing. I still wonder how the hell that happened even Petitioned it and the GM told me not to worry about it.

When Regan was but a wee podling he went mining in low sec...

Then went missioning in low sec...as if the mining explosion had not taught him the first time.,,,

Then decided to lip off a Tusker or two......

Ahhhh but good times...

My painful lesson was that it was days before I figured out that I should have a skill training.

Yup, I jumped into this game without a clue what it was except it had spaceships. And I like spaceships.

EDIT: I should add that I also managed to wander all the way into 0.0 in a Badger II fit with a smart bomb and a mining laser before discovering the error of my ways and what it felt like to be podded.

EDIT 2: And more on smart bombs. Concord taught me a lesson about using them to rat with.

Ahh...those were the days.

For a while I thought all the skills in the game were the ones I started with, then I found the market Shocked

I was doing a 15KM gauntlet run in Amamake to high sec, in a capsule, complaining in local about how dunb it feels to lose yet one more ship and be flying around in a little panty-hose container (the old capsule).

People were like "dude, STFU you want to get popped?".

But it gets worse. In fact, I am King of Bonehead:

I used to think all those faction and deadspace modules were junk when no value came up for them when trying to sell them.

Yeah, guess what I did.

You checked contracts, found the good prices for them and sold them to make lots of isk?

What are some of the boneheaded mistakes you have made in your EVE career that others can learn from?

My most memorable was losing a whole level of a skill by death jumping without making sure my med clone was updated.

That, and getting into a pvp fight and never having activated my DC unit...lol

some of my first ship fittings were horrible atrocities against all of eve at the time as I started learning to play. At the time I hadn't learned about killboards or reading about fittings and what various mods passively did to your ship. So I ended up with hilarious crap like.. cargo expanders on a thorax hull.

the lesson from this is that you should read and pay attention to killboards and ask people for fitting advice and fully read the attributes of what mods do to your ship.

secondly, don't log in while drunk. i did that recently, and almost bought a billion isk worth of skillbooks when i thought it was SISI i was on.

lesson from that is.. don't log in while drunk, and if you have multiple installs, be very aware of which server you're connecting to.

Trust your gut instinct. I've had a number of people try to appeal to my sense of greed, or superior knowledge or capability or whatever in an attempt to get close to me and screw me over. They were transparent considering the circumstances, so I laughed at them or played with them for a bit before shutting them down.

lesson from that is.. use logic, and trust your instinct of people and their intent considering the situation you're in. it can and will save you much pain and embarrassment.

if you think someone is an alt, they MOST LIKELY are. Again with the above, ive had people try to use alts to pull one over on me for various reasons, or evade being detected, or seperate their mains from whatever evil they were pulling, so as to not damage their main reputation. if you think someone is an alt, they are, without question until proven beyond a shadow of a doubt otherwise.

otherwise i have been very lucky with EVE, most of my other horrible mistakes were getting overconfident or trusting someone more than I should have. They didn't hurt me too much in the long run, and many times, I got taught a lot. I got taught the hard way, but its the better way to learn with some stuff.

During my early days when I had a piratical streak I decided to move some stuff I had in high sec. Having a low sec status but not a fullblown outlaw yet I set a route to fly and loaded a Drake with about 100mil worth of stuff. This happened before we had any avoidance features btw.

So I trundle on, semiafk, not really paying attention to the route markers (I could enter freely up to .6 sec systems) as I was also pirating with my second account. Imagine my surprise when suddenly something stops me from warping away from the gate. So I take a quick look and *oops* .7 sec system, scrammed and webbed by the police, 14km from the gate in a heavily tanked Drake with no propmod.

So, what can one do but set approach to gate and hope the tank holds long enough. I died 3km from the gate. Lost pretty much everything that was in cargo, something like 1 or 2 mil worth of useless stuff survived, never went back for them.

After that as a pirate I DID keep a better eye out for system sec :P

Entered a fight then realized I forgot to put ammo in the ship

Never underestimate the effectiveness of Epithet Hurling Lvl 5.

P.S. The sheer crappiness of learning how to fit an armor tanked ship when you are used to shield tanking. Sure, I could find fits in various places, but where is the fun in learning from other people's experience? Lol

As a bit of a noob... although now having played for a few weeks, so still a noob I have done many mistakes...

Wondered into 0.3 because I thought it would be safe to mine ore... by jetcan....

Not loaded ammo

Forgot to fit mission critical modules.

BUT... just like loss in eve is important, I think cocking up is also, it has to happen for you to learn.

Moving around bpos and bpcs and then heading to jita and forgetting that I hadnt unloaded the bpos, back before they were different colors for bpos and bpcs, and then proceeding to give people some REALLY good deals on bpos. Being almost in tears when I realized the mistake as they were corp bpos and having to get and pay off a loan to rebuy them from an old friend.

That will always be the dumbest thing I have done in Eve.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Missioning in 0.4, pre-warnings, and wondering why concord didn't show up when the pirates did.

Buying a Moa without the proper weapon and fitting skills. Bigger didn't turn out to be better...

Losing a Tengu to Reddit.com, I was to busy reading to remember to activate my active tank Oops

Oh you know, like Surfin. Not bringing ammo, or making a 12 jump mission forgetting to bring the mission cargo, or traveling to a gate in my noob days and not knowing there was a warp drive.

Or like the time i mined in a scythe (This was pre barges), and a gang of some cruisers and BS's jumped me. Targeted me and i thought well if i just leave they won't shoot and then next is an explosion and a pod squish Ugh
