Maximising income from running Anomolies - need advice

Hi,

I want to go back to 0.0 and rat/run anomolies.

I used to understand what was required to make good isk via ratting but am unsure about recent changes to Truesec status of systems brought in by CCP about 6 months ago. Did these changes affect ratting income or just anomolies?

As for anomolies, I was never sure if the truesec of a system affected the bounties last year let alone how they are affected now.
How does the truesec of a system affect the bounties of rats in anomolies? how do upgrades affect the bounties?

I've read veiled references that if a system is upgraded in a normally poor ratting region then it is just as good as one upgraded to the same level in a top ratting region like Fountain/Delve/Curse etc. Is this true?

Any and all advice welcome.

Thanks guys

The truesec changes had a significant impact on the type and frequency of anomalies. It did not affect the bounties paid in anomalies or anything else about them.

In my experience here is a quick summary:

Ratting:

1) Low truesec systems will have better belt rats. They will have better bounties and a greater chance for triple battleships spawns. The best triple battleship spawns I have seen were 1.85mill bounty each. In addition, lower true sec systems have the possibility of better hauler spawns (minerals). The best way to make isk from belt rats is to chain the spawns ... blow up the battleships on the ones you want to keep and leave the small fry ... the battleships will respawn every 20 minutes or so. Clear the other belt rats until they too give decent battleships and just continue chaining after that.

2) Faction spawns will also appear in belts. I've run across maybe 15 myself ... not sufficient to make any correlation with truesec levels from personal experience. Officier spawns are even rarer. I have never run across one personally. I have heard that these appear in low truesec systems < -0.5 or <-0.8 (or some other value) ... I have never heard of one in in truesec > -0.5 but this may be either bad luck or may be that the odds of officier spawns are affected by true sec making them more rare in certain systems (I spent 6 months in a 0.0 alliance in space with security > -0.5 and never heard of anyone getting an officier spawn).

Anomalies:

1) Truesec does not affect the bounties paid in anomalies or the ship types encountered. If the anomaly is present in the system it will be the same no matter what the truesec (in my experience). Anomalies can spawn faction ships in the last wave ... I do not know if the probability or type of this spawn is affected by truesec.

2) The changes in truesec anomaly spawn did the following. The generally considered best anomalies for isk generation ... havens and sanctums ... now only appear in upgraded low truesec systems. I was in a fully upgraded -0.37 system which went from 2 havens and 2 sanctums to 1 haven after the change. On the other hand, low truesec < -0.85 might have 3 sanctums and 6 havens (or more if fully upgraded). Finally, depending on your fit you can make as much or more isk chaining forsaken hubs than running havens since there are only BS and BC sized rats in the forsaken hubs.

Hope that helps ...
