So... How broken is Zydrine?

Hi all,

I haven't been on a lot lately due to lots of RL stuff etc.
right before I tamed my activity, I bought quite a stockpile of zydrine at around 780, thinking it might move. obviously Zydrine couldn't stay that low for such a long time, now could it?
Wrong.
here I am, few months later, and Zydrine hasn't made any real moves. sure, the occasional manip spikes etc, but no real overall change. so what happened to Zydrine? will it ever change? or would I do good just selling it as soon as it hits the 780 mark and invest in something else?

Well if you bought it a few months ago you missed your chance. It was quite high a while ago but chances are the price isn't going to be getting to the point just a few weeks ago.

It's not broke, its supply and demand.

Join SCC-Lounge. You'd have read me telling about Zydrine staying low 2 months ago and you'd not have your ISK stuck now.

besides, it's gonna be hard to lose isk on this pile, as long as I dont get jumpy and ditch the stack out of desparation...

I am seeing a trend in which demand for zydrine is increasing. The large stockpiles of available zydrine on the market for sale is getting used up. And in spots now we are seeing price spikes in zydrine where stock piles are disappearing.

I have had a hypothesis that we all were expectung the price to risr for years and were stockpiling it for that. But we all didn't realize that everyone else was doing it too. Now the market is awash in Zydrine as people slowly sell off their stockpiles. This is why it didnt get the same bump that other loe/null mins got when they removed drone alloys.

Who knows, maybe once the stocks dry up we will see general upward pressure in the coming years...

Yeah, luckily i only invested about 5bIl, although at current prices i'd lose a quater of that so the order can just sitthere until it rises back up some day, even if it takes years. lol

Rather that than take the loss.

Your best bet is to sell them as close to Christmas as you can.

But beware, if CCP put out patch notes stating stuff like "we are going to implement ring mining" and they tell that somehow high ends will be more accessible, then dump the same minute you see it.

Anyway I'll perform some routine market analyses both for Zyd and Nocx, if I see something promising I'll contact you (if you don't mind).

Same for me, I only have about 30b though, but if I sold to buy orders right now I would only lose about 700m. I bought early and cheap haha. Still wish I had sold it all at 1900.

Why not liquidate 1/2 of the stack and hold the other 1/2. Yes you will lose ISK, but only on 1/2. Then if the market goes up you may be able to break even overall and have that liquidity to play with.
If the market goes down, you cut your potential losses by 1/2.

It is not ideal, but hoping it will go up and risking it all is like chasing an inside straight draw in poker. Not a great bet.

I think it will go down below 700-750 and then slowly increase, prices always go up during winter.

Depending on how distant the market targets are, I make from 2% to 30% (rarely more) per trade. So 500B would turn into 510 to 650B over some weeks. 5T is very unrealistic.

whew, apparently the Zydrine issue is a lively one around here, even Chribba showing his face... I feel honored Bear

anyway,
the ring mining patch would be the only scenario for me to divert from my new strategy: accept the loss, bide my time and wait for it to rise... eventually. I find it very hard to believe zydrine will remain at this price until the end of days, more likely a stockpile issue. at this rate, anyone who can mine crokite can also mine A & B and most likely will prefer those over zydrine. so if I wait it out until the stockpiles start depleting while miners go for the profitable ores, someday zydrine should at least hit the 800 mark again... right? Oops
clearly there ain't enough tinfoil hats in the universe to predict what will happen over the next few months...

hm Immediately I see where I go wrong... in large mining ops you don't leave an ore behind, you just place it lower on the priority scale. so ofc zydrine will keep on being mined... hence more time to bide on... ugh
