EVE voice STILL not working

Sorry if I come off a little steamed, as I have been plugging away at this for a few days now, trying to isolate the issue.

Ever since Inferno 1.2 came out, I haven't been able to transmit voice - can hear other people in channel talking fine, game music, sounds, etc work perfectly. This has proven somewhat problematic when I'm commanding a squadron.

This pain has persisted in spite of the following

Client reinstall from online installer into directory I originally installed EVE into;
Client reinstall from offline installer into different directory; (yes, grand total of two reinstalls)
Disabling firewall;
Enabling firewall;
Opening ports on firewall;
Closing ports on firewall;
Running repair tool after deleting vivox*.dll;
Running repair tool;
Filing a bug report (that doesn't appear, of this writing, to have been looked at since i added the extra stuff requested)

The in-game echo test is a flat bust as well - doesn't hear a thing (and volume is at 75% when I tried)

None of my local network configuration has changed since well before the problem started.

The hardware involved works perfectly, as tests on other boxen and other programs on my EVE box have shown. (Frinstance, Skype on this box and others, Sound Recorder on this box). The other boxen I have access to are Linux boxen of various stripes, and I can't be bothered mucking around with Wine to get EVE running on those.

http://www.voipreview.org/voipspeedtester.aspx reported the following:
download speed 971 kbps
upload speed 1.21 Mbps (on ADSL2+ Annex M)
Consistency of service 76% (which caused NO problems before Inferno 1.2)
jitter of 0.5 ms
packet loss of 0.4%
MOS score 3.7

Assuming i have missed or overlooked something, what would it be?

Do you have QOS enabled on your router? If so turn it off. Sounds network related to me.
also double check you have the correct input device selected in eve.

Have quintuple-checked input device. It's the one that works with every bloody thing else.

Defaulted router, ensured there is NO QoS in play.

Have forwarded UDP ports 3478-3479, 5060, 5062, and 12000-16000 to my EVE box.

All to absolutely no avail whatsoever.

Maybe allow TCP too? Maybe close all programs except EvE and watch what ports are trying to be used by Eve. You can d/l a program like TCPVIEW to see what processes are trying to connect to what ports and what not. Some router firmware lets you see too (QOS -> Details if you use Tomato)

Do you want just the EVE-related stuff?

Well it seems like you have all the right ports open, I'd double check they are forward to the correct computer.

Also try this:

1. Go to Control Panel > Sound > Recording and speak into your microphone. The volume meter there should rise and fall as you speak.
2. Still in Recording, click on your Microphone and choose "Set Default,"
3. Now, click "Properties" and then click on the "Levels" tab.
4. In the Levels tab, make sure your volume is set all the way to 100. Also, set the microphone boost to the middle point in the slider.
5. Click on the "Advanced" tab and uncheck the box that says "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" in "Exclusive Mode"
6. Click OK to close Microphone Properties window.
7. In Sound Properties window (this should still be open), click on the "Communications" tab.
8. Under "When windows detects communication activity", select "Do nothing" and click OK to close the Sound Properties window.

Is this for Win XP SP3?

Triple checked the router setup, and confirmed that everything is being forwarded to correct box.

Only because CCP deep-sixed the native Linux client.

I wish I could think of something else but I can't. The one last thing I would try is if you have a router, putting your Eve computer in the DMZ. If it still doesn't work then you know its something wrong with the computer and not a network problem.

Thanks for your help thus far. This is ruddy frustrating.

Changing from a static to a dynamic IP, and cutting MTU down to 1400 hasn't helped either.

If it was a computer problem, then why would everything but EVE be problem free - including a SIP-based VoIP softphone I downloaded and installed last night?

Sorry if I came across as snapping at you, just still damn frustrated.

EVE voice is really flaky for me at best. Sometimes I can't even join channels until I relog, then disable EVE voice, and reenable then try again. After about 3 - 4 goes at this it decides to join and I can join the channel.

But I've also got a packet loss problem at 50% so its broken comms at best. No idea what the cause is, I've opened all the recommended ports on the firewall, even DMZ'd the computer, but makes no difference.

I've used the independant IP voice checker (found off some EVE support page) and it also shows 50% packet loss. I've also had the same problem using teamspeak.

I'm guessing it's an ISP problem (Virgin media) that they are traffic shaping and down prioritising IP Voice but I'm not sure. Plus I don't know if I'm going to have any joy phoning them up, or if they can do anything.
