Thought id just try my hand at a bit of exploration due to corp being wardecced so not risking flying high ISK cost ships solo at the moment.

Have fitted out a probe for high sec exploration (wont work in lowsec due to rats I gather?), mainly targetting Radar sites. I know how to scan down sites but other than that, zippo knowledge.

In high sec are there ever PVE ships to fight? As I will only be using single character to do this. And a little advise on fit please?

Highs- 1x Cloak
1x Scan probe l;auncher

Mids - 1 x 1mn MWD
1 x Codebreaker

Lows - Erm..... expanded cargos???

Rigs - 2 x small grav cap upgrade

Any advice welcome :-) Thanks

I started hi-sec exploring with this fit:

Nanofiber Internal Structure I

1MN Afterburner I
Codebreaker I

Core Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I
[empty high slot]

Small Gravity Capacitor Upgrade I

Hobgoblin I x2

You fly in, get the rats to lock on you, then speed tank them while your drones do the killing.
For the second hi slot, I usually fit a salvager in case I scan a mag site with the looted- prefix, or an autocannon to help with the rats.
As my skills have progressed, I've found that replacing the nanofibers with a damage control and an armor repper works better for me.

If all you want to do are radars, why not fit an imicus. It has 3 drones which are ample to take on rats whilst you speed tank.

The second medium could contain a MWD so you will have no problem staying away from rats.

That said, I usually use a heron because I can fit both MWD + Codebreaker + Analyser, which I can't do on the Imicus.

There is one radar in gurista space with a battleship in the room.
Other than that, you will only find frigs in some sites where Hobgoblins 2 shouldn't have any problems.

Core Probe launcher (Sisters stuff if you have the ISK); get rid of the MWD and cloak: MWD is destroying your cap when run, and the cloak is useless on a Probe (unless you're running in a low-population low sec system). Go with high meta T1 modules to save cap/power... Two Grav Caps is overkill for a Probe; I'd go with one plus a shield rig. Fit mids according to what you're going after (Radar, Mag, etc).

Consider using an imicus if you have gallente frigates trained. The three light drones will make clearing the rats defending sites much quicker. Forget about mag sites and stick to radars. A lot of fits will get the job done, this is just what I used. Kite rats and don't try to rep through their damage; cloak is optional. Spending the isk for faction probes is totally worth it, as scanning efficiently is key to making this worth your time.
