News websites?

Probably a no-brainer for most people.
But I am becoming bored and have found news websites help pass some time at work.
However, after reviewing a few different sites they are all entirely different, stories don't match up, etc.
What news site would you recommend, based on its content, the reliability of said content, and overall ease of access and layout?

Trap.

Doesn't matter what news site anybody lists, it will be considered lolpropogandajokesite to somebody else.

All the sites have their own perspective on a story and focus on different stories, but as long as you're aware of that perspective most news sites are fairly reliable. I'm not sure what kind of news you're looking for, but for world events http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/ , http://www.reuters.com/news/world and http://www.aljazeera.com/ would propably be good additions to your collection.

Read them all and apply a healthy dose of skepticism and you might come close to decent information.

I don't care too, too much about it. My beliefs are not necessarily politically correct in any way, and I have yet to find a news site I agree with on just about anything. But still, EVE GD has its slow days. and news is semi entertaining. I kinda like reuters' layout

I can't take Al Jazeera seriously when they run articles like this:

http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/faultlines/2012/08/20128218333383106.html

The feature quote:

Quote:
"It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on the blacks. It started as war on the blacks and it's now spread to Hispanics and poor whites. It was designed to take that energy that was coming out of the civil rights movement and destroy it."

I'll say this and then get out of here:

The problem is, and always has been, poverty. African Americans are disproportionately poor now because poverty begets poverty, and their ancestors were poor back in the times when they were actually oppressed. With poverty comes crime and ignorance, which help perpetuate the problem.

It's not about color. It hasn't been about color in 50 years. There's no "war on blacks". There's not even a "war on the poor". That would imply the intention to oppress the poor. They need to drop this rhetoric about how the big bad rich white people are out to get everyone else, and start talking about the actual problems: how to fix the law so that it doesn't unfairly imprison the poor, and how to give the poor more opportunities to lift themselves out of poverty.

Taxes get me, that is what kills me.
I don't care about the color of your skin, I don't know you.
I don't want to help you survive one bit, you can die of starvation in a ditch for all I care, you are nothing to me.

You cross illegally, you spend my tax money.
You don't get a job here, you spend my tax money.

Reliable news? That does not exist my friend. Everything is embellished, tainted, manipulated, one sided or just plain lies. Same goes for history books (written by the victors) and religious books (written by fairies).

For more specific news, Techdirt.com is a good read.

It focuses on government abuses... copyright trolls and corrupt big business.

It can get a little tinfoil-hatty sometimes with some of their reasoning for government actions, but all in all it is a good read and generally intelligent.

You know... one thing I have noticed in class... the black students sit by themselves in an area and talk and don't pay attention in class. Funny part is it's a Criminal Justice class Big smile

if you want some war news go to antiwar.com its independent... they ask for donations every season. it's pretty reliable and it's good for wasting time.
