Should I use my 100mil ISK on implants?

Hey hey, I got 100m as part of a buddy invite bonus.. Probly quite low but that's ok, it is what it is :) My character is 1 week old with about 300k skill points I believe. Very new. I am doing the Sisters arc, pretty much just started it..

Should I use some (most) of this money on implants now? I am thinking maybe I should here is why:

1 - I am not doing any PVP for quite a while. Want to 'skill up', buy ships, and learn the game as a carebear for a bit.. Also long term I see myself doing exploring or hauling anyhow... So, low risk of losing implants..

2 - With most of these things, the sooner you get the attribute / learning bonus, the longer it has to have an impact, so it would make sense to get it as early as possible.. Also, since later I may be in low sec or nullsec, there is a higher chance to lose them later, versus now...

3 - I'm not really using that 100mil for anything... Since I don't have the right skills yet to buy cruisers or better ships, and I can't buy a whole lot of spiffy modules as i dont have power / cpu, and don't have the right skills for the +power +cpu modules, I can't really use that money (unless i just put it in the market for trading).

So, I am thinking I might take 80million and dump it into implants... Leaving me with 25 million...

You want to save for ISK making ship. I suppose set of +3 would be fine for you, you'll still have enough for a BC for missions (or ratting in null). So dont spend it all on implants.

I think it's a really good investment. I would at the very least get +4 implants for perception and intelligence, since those are primary attributes for many skills you will train.

Yes

Buy implants, get skills, make isk faster

Scammers are currently selling killrights on this toon for up to 5mil, if you have paid for this service demand your money back at once.

Killing me should be for free.

My recommendation: get a good ship and ship gear first. Implants are the long term pat on the back. You want to have a ship that allows you to have a consistent income.

Unless of course you constantly run with corp mates, in which case an accelerated skill learning might work better.

Go for a full set of +3 or a pair of +4 per/will depending on whether you prefer the industry-mining side of things or shooting things up. Either way, you can't go wrong. Both will help you a lot in the long run, and in a few months you'll be glad you bought some implants. Just make sure not to loose them.

You absolutely should get the highest set of implants that you can manage. Time learning Skills can never be recovered if you lost potential early. You can always save up for a mission running ship, train cybernetics to IV and buy you a nice set of +4's then get this grinding those missions o7

This is a terrible mindset to enter EVE with. It will create a risk aversion play-style that will not serve you well in New Eden. If you wait to PvP until you 'skill up' you will never PvP. You will always be waiting for that one last skill that is going to allow you to PvP. After playing for nearly a year, I am still not skilled up enough. I will never have as much SP as someone who joined in 2008, and that guy will never have as much SP as someone who joined in 2004.

New people need to lose some ships ASAP. You should have no real-life attachment to your internet space ships, losing a ship shouldn't ruin a day. Every day you go without losing your first few ships cements the idea that losing ships is a big deal.

Also I see you say, "I am not doing any PVP for quite a while". You are new, so you may not fully understand this yet, you have absolutely no say in if you are going to PvP or not. This is EVE and in EVE if you undock you are consenting to PvP. There is a certain 'type' of EVE player that excels in harassing those in high-sec, and taking advantage of high-sec mechanics their prey can't be bothered to learn. High-sec is not necessarily safe.

I pretty much started with the same mindset, played on and off for about 3 months. Considering that skills you are learning atm don't require much time, hold of on the expensive ones, get 3's, they will do.
Once you get to skills that require several days or more, you should upgrade. Really I would hang onto that isk as much as possible as ship prices have doubled since last year. Isk is slow mission wise until you start doing at least l3's and to do those fast you will need a battle cruiser, that's roughly 40 mill plus mods on the Minmatar side of the empire.

Also don't worry about pvp, it's not some holy grail in this game, there's plenty to do without it. jump in when you feel like it, but do learn the basic pvp mechanics so some "hero" who tricks noobs doesn't get an easy kill.

Get +4s for all except for charisma. You'll thank yourself for this choice in a year (or longer), as you will have maximised (almost) your SP gain over the months.

What you can also do is get +4s for Perc/Int first, use your ISK to get a L3 running BC or even better join a PVE corp to maximise return on investment, and as soon as you can get the other two +4s.

Implants are well worth it, but don't let them compromise your ability to make ISK. Consider a +3 set or a mix of +3 and +4 implants. Skip charisma, skip Leadership, skip PI, train some social Skills (Connections especially). Work on capacitor, tank, dps, spaceship command.

I wish you the best of luck in Eve!

You have 100m ISK. A cheaply fitted Merlin, Rifter, Incursus, or Punisher costs under 1m.

If you think you might like it, buy 20 of them, fit them up, and go to Lowsec to try to learn to PvP. (You will lose them. All. Fairly Quickly. But pretty soon you'll start winning a fight or two before you die.)

If you're anything like me, you'll get hooked, both to EvE and to PVP.

SP isn't anything. +4s will disappear in a heartbeat if you're unlucky and someone decides to kill/pod you. The above ships (all 20) cost about as much as 1 +4 Implant.

You need maybe a week to skill up.

If you want expensive implants then find a way to get jump clones. That way you got a implant clone and a pvp clone (no implants)

Learning implants are a lie. Also, forget the terrible missioning-oriented advice in this thread - shame on you, people. (Not you, Pipa & Elvis!)

You won't notice any kind of real difference between a full set of +4s and two +3s chosen for the primary and secondary attributes of your current remap. Save the money for ships, or even better, invest it on the markets and turn it into a billion in your first month.

I never wear more than 2 learning implants (I do have every hardwire slot filler, tho), planning your skill training and remaps has a much more dramatical effect. Good example is the difference between +4s and +5s = 0 during the first year. You spend the week training for Cybernetics V, the same week you gain from the more expensive implants.

In the end, skill points are not that meaningful after you get the basic skills down. This game rotates around player competence, and even more around team work.

Early in the game, you have so many basic skills that need to go to IV that mapping isn't really a great idea. A basic set of +3's are cheap, leaving you with cash for cruisers.

Once you've got basics trained, then go for specific pairs of attributes, with just the +4's for those 2 attributes. Use EvEMon, and play around with the attributes and skills until you get what you like. By that time, you'll have at least one jump clone, for all the fun PvP- within a month. Then you can jump back into your implanted clone to grind hi sec again:)

PvP early on is cheap- tackler gangs are low enough skill that you already have the skills for it, or can within a day.

if you don't have access to jump clones - find a way (several services out there)

after you get a jump clone put TWO attribute implants in each, for example
clone 1: perception + willpower implant
clone 2: intelligence + memory implant

This assuming you are equally specced. If you are set on training only perc+will for example just get those implants and ignore the rest.

The basic goal of this setup is that if you want to train int/mem skills, you just jump to a different clone. This way you'll never have unused attribute implants in your head ... and losing your head will be less costly ... and if you can't afford new implants you can always stay a bit longer in your other implanted clone and train skills based on the other attributes.

Buy a Merlin/Kestrel run Sisters of Eve Epic Arc. Then start running missions and get implants through the LP stores. Never brought an implant any other way.

On the one hand I'd say get the best implants you can afford because there's no other way to turn ISK into skill points. On the other hand, to equip a full set of 5s, you need to spend something like 10 days training Cybernetics V, which would be super painful at this stage.

Trust me, I started back when learning skills were still a thing. I was trapped in a destroyer for a couple weeks until I trained those and it was painful looking at my 50-60m ISK in the bank and knowing I couldn't fly anything worth more than 1m.
