I've been looking up a lot of fits for my vexor and 9/10ths of them have been your standard for low level (1 and 2 solo) missions

high:
3-4/railgun blaster

medium:
AB
Cap recharger II x 2

Low:
2 hardeners/nano membrane + 1600mm plate
med armor rep II
DC

Rigs:
usually cap rigs

However I've been reading some about people shield tanking in the vexor with ASB's and what not. Should I consider this so I can have drone damage mods? This is my first forum post and just looking for some advice Big smile

Fitting is a measure of art and a heaping dose of science.

I've seen radical and experimental fits that get the job done outside of common design theory.

Gallente ships are primarily all armor tanked. That being said, you can try shield tanking and see how it treats you. In any new fit testing period you should be extra wary, events can turn on you quickly leaving you floating in space naked and alone.

yay naked space time! Thanks for the input :) I may try some different things. Ive been playing even on and off for a while and just now starting to realize there is no end-all-be-all fits for certain things.

272 DPS tank while dealing 365 DPS with the drones. Might be doable, not sure though as I've never done level 2 missions.

P.S. The Ishtar, Gila and Rattlesnake do the shield thing far, far better. Just sayin'. ;)

I will never understand why people fit ASB's on PvE ships, much to easy to run out of charges, and if you do, or even just run low between rooms you have to sit on your hands for 60 seconds while you reload.

Shield tanking for PvE with three mids is difficult, you could try 2 rat specific hardeners and a shield booster, it might do okay. I would also consider changing resist rigs, for rigs in missions I usually prefer things that are a little more generic.

To the OP, if you have the cash I strongly recommend the Navy Vexor, I have one that I use to grind through level 2's and 3's, it works great.

I believe I could buy one, but I wouldnt have enough money to buy all the fits! but that's a good idea. I only have around 100m right now, and they seem to vary between 80-90m around the jita area where I live my little life

As for the armor fit in the OP:
If it's for PvE only, do you really need the 1600mm plate? As I understood that's primarily a PvP thing because of the buffer it provides and makes fitting things on a cruiser more difficult. And the damage control's greatest benefit is increasing the ehp of your structure by a lot. You don't want to get into structure in PvE though, either, I thought.
I also read somewhere you shouldn't mix buffer with active tank.

I'm really not experienced with that, so please understand this as a serious question, but aren't there more effective alternatives for PvE for these slots when armor tanking? More armor resists instead of the DC or maybe a damage mod (for drones or turrets.. on a Vexor probably drones) or something like that.

With only 3 midslots, the Vex is a very poor armor tanker. If you're only doing l2's, it's possible, but then l2's are possible in a t1 combat frigate if you fit it right, so that's not a high standard. Stick with armor, or if you want shield at a non-faction price, the Myrmidon has a pile of midslots and can shield tank very well (leaving it's huge number of lowslots free for drone damage mods :)
