Hi, I'm a returning player who's been gone for two years and I'm wondering what I missed, can someone give me a breakdown of the important stuff in the last few years? I've noticed ship spinning is gone and it's just a static screen Cry I've also noticed the stealth bombers have new models, there's new battlecruisers and the assault ships are a bit different, were AF's given an extra slot? also everything is now twice the price, even Eagle is 100 mil and Ishtar is 190, why is this?

What other changes have been made to ships in the last two years?
Are ECM and falcons still king in low sec?

Thanks.

T1 has doubled because CCP removed gun mining :(
T2 has because of the Technetium bottleneck being manipulated by goons and co.

Falcons got nerfed, range is shorter now, but now everyone uses ecm drones and it's a pain. Lots of other stuff, frigates are currently getting buffed for example.

The prices thing was cause of messing around with moon goo

T1 prices went up cause all the rogue drone alloys were removed (with a few exceptions of them dropping from structures like the hives and such) and thus a HUGE amount of minerals being supplied form the null sec drone regions went away. Rather recently the mining barges got changed around a lot now with them 3 kinda of barge specializing in tank, cargo and maxed yield.

In Crucible we got new nebulae, the new BCs, new warp effect, the stars are now actually visible in space (as in the in-game stars, not just the generic background ones) the nebulae backgrounds now actually change based on where you are, as you travel through regions you'll actually see changing perspective.

We also got a new neocom that is almost completely customizable, meaning you can add and remove icons as you want, all of them always being available in the E menu at the top. You can even make your own groups.

Since 1.2 all the ships besides capitals and T3s have been V3ed, meaning that they have been upgraded to version 3 shaders and have had their textures updated. You'll notice that all the V3ed ships now have their faction logo on them somewhere on the ship and the T2 ships all have their manufacturer logo on them (like the Phobos has Roden Shipyards on it)

We got new missile effects http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDFnkLQa_UM

DUST 514, the PS3 exclusive FPS that ties into EVE is currently in beta and just recently CCP put up a new item about how they are gonna be taking DUST off their "beta server" and connecting it to SiSi for the first time ever letting players from both games on the same server.

Hyrbids got buffed quite a bit, all of the ships are planned to re-balanced and yes the AFs did gain a slot and the new 50% reduction to MWD sig radius

For example the "small frigates" (Condor, Atron, Executioner, and Slasher) were all updated most recently to actually eb able to fit a tank and 3 guns and a point, the 3 other combat frigates besides the rifter (Punisher, Incursus, and Merlin) all got buffed a bit as well, the punisher finally has a dmg bonus instead of a cap use bonus, the incursus got more slots and the merlin now no longer has launcher slots, making it into a blaster boat

The main theme with the changes that have already happened and are still yet to come is "tiericide" meaning that they are doing away with tiers for all ship classes. A clear example of this today is the phoon, tempest, and maelstrom.....in the new system all 3 of those ships will be flyable with Minmatar Battleship level 1 and all 3 will be equally as capable as each other, but do different roles. It was mentioned, for instance, that the typhoon would become a full on torpedo boat, losing the projectile bonus for a target painter bonus.

POSes are also due for an overhaul soon and with V3ed ships custom ship skins are finally within reach (maybe with the next year or so).

Walking in stations is still being worked on but a lot of the details are being kept a secret, what we do know is that they want to give us a mechanic of letting us walk around in structures as a form of exploration, to find valuable stuff inside with plenty of opportunity for PVP, teamwork and backstabbings.

War dec mechanics have really changed around a lot...you'd ahve to look those up on EVElopedia....faction warfare changed a lot too....you earn way more LP for PVP kills now. And with that there are a bunch of new interfaces, war reports showing you a n overview of a war dec regarding kills and lossses, kill reports, a window that shows an ingame version of what we already had on killboards (and they are linkable in chats) and a whole new set of interfaces for FW regarding capture points and new perks and such.

We also got a new inventory system. Community is pretty well divided about whether to hate it or like it atm...thankfully the added option to have "secondary windows" always open in their own window makes it feel a lot like the old system.

Perks of the new system include a tree view that shows all your containers, new awesome filters, and a little thingy at the bottom that shows you estimated value of your stuff (afaik uses universal averages)

There is a button on the station services panel for entering or leaving the hangar view.

Disabling LSE is more or a sledgehammer solution.

That's about the time when I quit, staring at a door was not fun, and it looked from the leaked memo that eve was circling the drain and about to die because of neglect.

Anyway, can someone explain the new war dec mechanics to me, can corps in alliances now go to war without the alliance going to war? can you wage loads of wars again or is it still limited to 2 or 3?

Yeah, I also quit around the :18 months: nonsense, vowing to never come back and uhm.. yeah, here I am :P Problem for me is that I went full emo and got rid of my chars :P

From a PVP pov:

- 0.0 fleet pvp/politics is still boring and a waste of time
- tier 3 BC! they're pure pvp machines and some do great solo even (Talos)
- Hybrids got buffed, Gallente ships got some slight love
- Ancillary shield boosters, shield boosters running straight off of cap charges, They're super OP (in true CCP style). If you're thinking of soloing and not use those ASB you're effectively fcked because others will
- there's several "waves" of frigate rebalancing happening atm, in short the Rifter is now "soso", Merlin is OP, same for the Incursus and even the Punisher is decently fine. Expect this to translate to cruisers and beyond in the near future

Welcome back :)

Another question: Is the market currently stabilising with the new mining barge stuff and are prices dropping? I have a bunch of stuff stockpiled that I want to sell while prices are high.

Also, what's the story with mindlinks? they were 7 mil when I quit, now skirmish ones sell for 240 mil each, damn glad I had a bunch of them stockpiled. How are mindlinks now seeded?
