Hi fellow pilots

I wanna ask you all , what element in Eve Online do you think contributes most to your game commitment to Eve.

Is it the social aspect of the game , the thrill of pvp or the business element of making isk.

Please give me some feedback on this as I am working on writing a report about Gaming Commitment.

For me it's a mixture of the social aspect and the thrill of pvp.

I find the adrenaline rush and feeling of elation after a fantastic solo fight is very similar to the thrill I get when I catch a really good wave while surfing.

+1 to what Laktos said.

Yep: Social and PvP go together for me, in fact it all goes together. ISK is not so much of a consideration. I really should work on that... Hard to do with ENORMOUS BLASTERS. (I am bad at mining.)

Mostly social for me, I am more of an "Inside" kind of guy, I only go out every second weekend or so for a drink with friends/gf.

So a lot of my space friends are on here, which is a good thing as most of the people around here are assholes :D.

But a fair bit of it is pvp, cant beat logging in and going out to ruin some idiots day.

Being an ally leader, the commitment for me is making other peoples playing fun and worthwhile. I get a kick from knowing my guys are doing well and enjoying themselves. Sometimes that doesnt happen, sometimes it does. Also the PvP aspect of this game keeps me going.

The unique server with 20k+ players at all time.
The sandbox aspects of the game, where you join an alliance or corp, find your place, and just take part in a living universe that you can actually change if you try to.
The fact that there is no real goal in EvE, you just do whatever you want to do.

I find the realism of the game most attracts me to it. I can actually see how most things that happen in this game could happen in real life.

Got the snot blown out of you? Well, you don't just respawn somewhere like nothing happened. There are no squirrels that poop gold, no firebolts blasting out of your hands, no ultra unrealistic martial arts maneuvers that would NEVER work in a real combat situation.

In short, this game is not full of the brand of the cartoony fantasy that so many MMO gamers seem to crave. To be frank, I find that a lot of the games that I have played in the past were full of complete and utter window-licking retards.

Eve, however, does not provide a platform for idiots. Stupid people disappear quickly or just get pwned on contact.

Sure, Eve has its share of asshattery, but at least you can respect it when you encounter it. It's not mindless asshattery...some thought has gone into putting together a fit that can kick your ass...that scam that emptied your wallet...that gate camp that caught your entire crew slipping.

Eve is for smart people. That's why I am committed to this game and no other.

I would much rather kill a battleship with a strategic cruiser and then salvage its contents (which could happen at some point in the future) than hack a pack of inexplicably item-filled wolves to death with a giant flaming sword.

Thx for all the comments ....

Can see it is a mix match of many elements that commit you to the game , though the social seems
have some kind of a lead. The aspect of companions in arms fighting for greater good of the corp or
themselves seems to get most players committed.

I don't want to sound overly negative. I think it's pretty cool that you are writing a report on it.

These conclusions though are pretty much the staple of an MMO, and EVE is perhaps the most pure remaining MMO, so they should not come as a surprise. This entire genre of games is about the total pakage, and the combination of PvE-, PvP- and social trademark building. Play the game, make resources, expend resources and try to create something memorable with your friends or impressions on the world around you (the community).
