Yet another anti AFK-Cloak idea

While getting bored in work (obviously) I came up with following idea of new POS module.

Name : put here whatever you want
How it works : After activation module sends pulse each minute or so, that decloaks all ships in certain range - for example all belts/moons around it, all even entire system (this is open to debate). Ship decloaked that way will recloak back after standard delay.
This would give a chance for corp to clean up the system from afk cloakers from time to time, while not affecting active cloackers that much - well, not until they decloak while in the middle of enemy fleet :)

Not a new idea, merely an iteration on an old one.

Please learn to search the forum.

Please suggest "solutions" to problems with the game, not with the psychology of a subset of the player base.

If you insist on trying to "solve" the "problem" with AFK cloakers (which has been explained to death regarding not actually being a problem) please at least try to come up with something that wouldn't completely bork wormholes or scouts. Your suggestion would render cloaks in WH's pretty much useless as it forces them to become uncloaked and therefore gives way too much intel to the residents and would destroy scouting as anyone scouting an enemy POS or fleet would be screwed.

Here's a solution to the "problem" of AFK cloaking: Stop being a whiny biatch and demanding programmatic solutions to your unreasonable fear.

I don't understand why you're so afraid of cloakers in highsec. Fit some sort of buffer and let CONCORD do its job.

OP idea, been suggested countless times before, always been -1'd to the ground and this is no different.

So it nerfs active play and doesn't even begin to address the reason for AFKing.

It's a no then, to this not at all new idea.

Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the Lions will ignore you in the Savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless.

no
sh*t idea and not new at all.
Get out.

Afk cloaking is all right and does not need a "fix".

new and exciting

Don't be scared, because being afk is not a crime.

Cloaking?

You mean the invisible guy who can't touch you?

I think the real problem is AFK Frustrating, not cloaking.

Sure, the Frustrator may be using a cloak, but he could also be using a high speed small sig ship, or just be docked.

Really hard to hunt, I guess it would be FRUSTRATING.

Like seeing these threads reincarnated like they were new ideas noone had considered till now....

AFK cloakers don't sit at planets or moons. They make a safe spot. This proposal would merely nerf every OTHER type of stealthy game play.

Enemy POS is in my system with tons of inactive ships on it is also "just a flustration", yet I can gather friends and destroy this POS with everything in it. Why ? Because they can became active anytime and attack me. Tell me how AFK cloaker is any different ???

As I wrote, module would need to be activated by owner. It is meant to be used to clean system out of enemy cloakers once in a while, not keep it active all the time. If cloaker is on SS, then you will have plenty of time to scan him down (if he is really AFK)

Decloaking friendly ships is somewhat balancing drawback.

because they are cloaked, you cant come and shoot them. Thats it - this is good the way it is.

you shouldnt have a tool to "clean" a system of cloakers. This is where you fail to understand the concept of cloaking.
You have no claim to "hostile-free" space - nowhere in eve. If someone likes to sit afk in a certain place, he should be able to.

See, this is the issue.

Why do you believe in some right to be able to do this, clearing out enemy cloakers?

You may not be considering this, but to me it sounds like you are trying to dictate how other pilots are allowed to play here.

You either have the ability to counter this tactic, or you don't.
Try considering ways to make the presence of a cloaked vessel meaningless.

Use ships in system that cannot be alpha'd by a stealth craft, for one.
Consider perhaps using these to trap it, if you want to be more proactive.

Mining in a Skiff, fitted right, can result in enemy tears. Bring friends for that DPS and point, let the other guy enjoy the fireworks with you.
