And it looked something like this:

It's like WinPhone7/MetroUI and AutoCAD had an illegitimate love child Shocked

the UI in that pic has a lot of issues, but it is better than what EVE uses today. CCP may be amazing at a lot of things, but prioritization and designing a functional, minimalist UI are most certainly not among them.

Are you sure wasn't a nightmare? Shocked

Pretty much what Akirei said; it's a step in the right direction as a concept, and CCP would be wise to draw inspiration from pictures such as this one (read: NOT blatantly rip it off, that would be bad - and plagerism).

After POS towers get some love, maybe we should all start a 'Flogging the dead UI' thread? Big smile

You dream about using feroxes.

My God man, what is wrong with you.

The world is a community of idiots doing a series of things until it explodes and we all die.

Seems interesting, though I find it a little hard to understand but that might have more to do with it being drawn in paint or something.

Maybe CCP should run a design a better UI contest.

To see what kind of improvements the Community can think of or dream up.

back-of-a-napkin rendering aside, I have for a very long time wished for a more precise/intuitive navigation control- "double click and head MAYBE where you think you're going but probably 30+degrees off" is really obnoxious. Indicating where I want to go relative to my hull would be WONDERFUL (if anyone remembers DarkSpace maybe something like that only in an actual 3-dimensional space).

I like the vector indicators. That's something I wish the current game had.

No argument about EVE ui; however the ui in the picture is anything but minimalist.

Vector indicators would be really nice to have.

Take note CCP.

To bad it is not likely something we will get.

The EvE UI needs a serious overhaul.

I was sort of look forward to the possibility of a new UI with the carbon release to bad that was scrapped.

hence why i said it had a lot of issues, paramount among them being using up just as much screen real estate yet having *less* visible information that is critical to the moment. no overview is far too crippling with the way EVE works.

a good design would allow things like having a "reds / neuts in local" indicator, obsoleting a hugely tall local window. it would include the option to take the clunky HP / cap display and turn it into some small percentage numbers, able to be placed anywhere. etc, etc.

@Tanya Powers: I'm still undecided Shocked

@Grey Stormshadow: Now that you mention it, lunch did taste a bit different today, and I wasn't sure what that green stuff was...

@Renan Ruivo:

Judging from this undoubtedly accurate depiction, I am sure you will agree with me that even the most uncultured oafs could ascertain that the Ferox is one of the most distinguished and noble spaceships, and the only choice for the discerning capsuleer of refined taste.

@Botleten: It was either this or station games so, lesser of two evils Big smile

Don't worry guys I'm not quitting my day job any time soon :D Just wanted to draw this and get it out of my system
