Why do you lie !?!?

Greetings !

After watching some videos on youtube of a deformed and heavily mutilated hyena`s head due to a vicious attack of a lion,a lady jumping into a pool full of polar bears and some dude thinking that a grizzly is a fluffy looking carebear in some zoo this peculiar thought crossed my mind:

Why do we lie to others ?

Before i could honestly answer this question myself i immediately thought about asking this the eve community knowing that individuals who play this game shall provide me with an in-depth and elaborate responses. I haven`t met a single person in my life that would tell the truth all his/her life so i take for granted that everybody here lie as well albeit should you have a valid proof [teeheehee] of you having been a truth-saying person from the cradle i will exert myself and send you an "unspecified" amount of ISK to your wallet.

As for me...It`s rather very generic. I lie to keep things on an even keel between me and my colleagues, friends, family and co-workers. When i feel lazy and i wouldn`t want to hurt somebody else`s feelings i`d probably lie, however that doesn`t go for all the people i`m acquainted with since some of them can accept the heinous truth. On the other hand i try and not to go too far with it and try to keep it somehow "moral", if you can even put a lie into this category, so for example i won`t try to make myself look like a victim of ethnic oppressions to get balls deep into a chick or come up with a fancy story how i`ve been gaining experience regarding a particular job from the very young age just to get a promotion.

How about you folks? Why do YOU lie ?

The voices tell me to.

Since we're adding videos, I started branching out from the OP's and came across this jet crash. It's not the crash that caught my attention though, its the top comment.

I've decided to live my life by not bothering with a system of truths, half-truths, perspectives and lies.

I've decided instead to live my life by just making everything up off of the top of my head.

It has worked very well for me as far as you know.

People lie because:

They see some advantage in it.

They think they can get away with it.

They have psychological issues and genuinely don't see a problem with it.

They are afraid to admit the truth.

And probably many other reasons.

You lie everyday, it may not be right out lies. But they are little white lies, you lie to your significant other when she asks if the dress or jeans makes her butt look fat, you tell co workers that their hair looks great.

It's simple, i lie to spare peoples feelings, i lie to the cop that says i drove to fast, i lie to my friends when they want to go out on a weekend and i much rather pop some caps into another player in Crysis. Or just wants to fly around in EvE or for to quote the intraweb.

According to World Net Daily news:
A new survey shows the average person tells four lies a day, or 1,460 a year for a total of 88,000 by the age of 60, and the most common is:
"I'm fine."

Others on the list include:

"Nice to see you"

"Sorry I missed your call"

"I'm stuck in traffic"

"Our server was down"

"The train was delayed"

"The check's in the mail"

"I'll call you back in a minute"

"This tastes delicious"
and sadly
"Of course I love you"

I don't lie, but am the world heavyweight champion in BS.

I guess I find being tactful easier than lying, which is just an easy way out of being tactful and, I have to say that lying to someone just insults their intelligence.

BS is just for fun though, and only for topics and situations where BS is okay.

Alara, as usual, despite the time that has passed between us, I feel your emotions truly mirror mine. I give you +1 and a lot of avatar love that has no correlation to our real life selves and is solely confined to the midgets dancing in my head.

Because saying "No, that dress doesn't make you seem fat...but your dependence on others' opinions definitely makes you seem shallow." usually leads to assaults and beating people is illegal.

I enjoy dancing in the grey area of plausible deniablity and half truths from time to time.

Such as:

Question: Was my garden watered while I was on vacation?
Reality: I forgot to, but it rained once.
Spoken Answer: "Yes"

If left unquestioned, you get away with things. If called on it, you can feign ignorance/confusion to back up your words.

I'm too lazy to lie much. If you lie, you have to always remember what you said. It's easier for me to just deal with saying the truth now, instead of having to keep track of a bunch of stories in the future.

This is just sad, no wonder he has so many scars on his head, but hey, i`m not surprised at all what Japanese can come up with. I`ve stumbled upon this today - R a p e Club Japan. I also seen some dudes hanging out in the park with these inflattable, full-sized female toys acting like nothing`s wrong with them however i can`t seem to find the appriopriate link for that.

I have to admit that i`ve spend good 3 or 4 minutes laughing my ass off at this "ejaculation" comment. That`s why YT is hilarious. Sometimes comments are more entertaining than the video itself. And to think that this came out from a native speaker...

However, without further ado let`s get to the point

My intention was to ask why you guys/gals lie (sort of a confession Roll), not a general summary.

What i`ve noticed in the course of my still "short" lifespan is that many people out there admit that they prefer to hear the truth, but in many cases they can`t accept it when faced with one (with some very few exceptions) so drawing conclusions from my own experience when folks ask you to be as forthcoming as you can be with them you should be wary of what you say.

As for keeping track of your lies if you spawn your BS off of the truth it`s more easier to manage. Pinstar Colton gave a great example of this and in most cases, whenever i have to tell something derived from real events, i will resort to these types of lies. Some folks can deal unimaginable lies coming out of pure creativity left and right and still get away with it, as for me i wouldn`t go for this sort of stuff, especially with people whom i interact with on day-to-day basis.
