The OP is 100% wrong on this. I see AFK cloaking not as a problem, but as something very beneficial to the game.

People complain about how powerful local is, and AFK cloaking blunts it at least a little. It's also a good way to discourage botters and nullsec carebears. AFK cloaking is one element of EVE that stands the test of time.

I'm tired of this guy AFK camping my mining/ratting/plexing etc. system so I will rally some hate for cloaking and get it nerfed.

I think the best fix for this as it would prevent people from being afraid of people who are not even at their computer is

When you cloak you no longer appear on local.

This way cloak actually makes you cloaked and we don't have to listen to people whine about afk cloakers.

Problem solved.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

The whole idea of AFK cloaking, is the risk of a hotdrop when they get you. Thats the whole point of it. If you ignore the AFK cloaker, he can and likely will **** you up.

dissapearing from local when you cloak when you are not on the computer ... interesting idea. HEY i think its already in the game, its called logging off.

Its lame how most people here arguew in favor of AFK cloaking, but mostly talk just about cloaking, not AFK.
one thing is to be cloaked while playing, thats cool. another thing is to cloak and go see a movie, do your laundry, etc while you generate a false warning reaction from people on the system.

Oh, and regarding the short minded comment before, that users should try different systems. Any major alliance has enough active accounts, to dedicate 8 days to create a cloaky alt. You just take to the desired system, and every time you are not playing, you log on and stay there cloaked ******* up everyone else's game. Really smart and fun thing to do... You should really be in the game industry, since you have so many great ideas on how to make games fun.

I guess I am a minority to say that there isn't a problem with afk cloakers, just a problem with people being paranoid about what they see in local.

I need to make ANOTHER warping-while-cloaked alt to do that, maybe so I can get a covert cyno for people AND get in on the hotdrop.

A probe launcher hound with a cyno would work i guess....

If he is currently ******* you up then he was not AFK cloaked but just cloaked waiting for you to make a dumb.

Personally as a nullsec resident I think that AFK cloaking means bugger all. It can be annoying, but it sure keeps you on your toes. Anyway, if you don't have at least one person you can call for help you are doing it very, very wrong.

I don't think removal of local is the solution though, but I think delayed local would be pretty good, or maybe some kind of thing where you disappear from local after not doing anything for a certain period of time, I don't know.

I don't really know.

I guess people see the system being camped and don't want to move, so ... they let themselves be annoyed. Or it's a coordinated camping effort, but I don't think I've seen that.

you nullsec guys why do you fear so much the cloakies, you have all the best intel in the world with local. why not get backups or move to next systems if you scared so much about a cloaked ships.now you want even more intel if you find out if the cloaked ships is doing something or not. i think you should make the least isk in nullsec because there is no risk at all.

yours ? lol, well if you fear that so much , why dont you just go to highsec and do lvl4 missions. why not get backups standby ? its a team agme but you dont like share you isk you make with your backup mates ? why not have cloakes around you ? afarid of beeing hotdropped. why not counter it with a counterhotdrop..... are you in nullsec for pvp, blobs or just making isk ?
