Just wanted to say hi to the (seemingly) firendly forum personalities as I start off my Eve addiction. I'm enjoying so far what seems to be a much more mature community than other MMO games and even better, there is an actual community. I joined a newbie friendly corp and I am getting my skills trained up to do the missioning in my Kestrel, bristling with light missile launchers :) I look forward to getting further immersed into this game and doing some higher level missions or even PvP one day. See you guys out there!

Hi!

Yes, we're friendly. As long as:
You don't whine about being blown up.
You don't expect to be totally safe anywhere.
You don't demand answers to questions. (Asking is fine. Demanding isn't).

Smile

Fly safe!

Woo! CSM XI!

Glad to have you in the game.

You will find your time in Eve to be totally enjoyable, assuming you have the fortitude to learn from mistakes and not repeat them. I've seen far too many people rage quit or stupid stuff.

No worries about the whining...I know this game is all about living in imminent danger at all times, although I would rather try to do missions than go looking for trouble for the first few months at least ;) I think I have the gist covered as far as what to expect...i remember seeing a learning curve drawn comparing Eve to other MMO's...somethign about a bulldozer clearing the bodies off the cliff at the top of the learning curve or something :)

yeah, that's about right.

You'll run into that cliff a lot, because each new thing has its own cliff:

-mining
-missions (well, not really)
-Market PvP
-PvP
-Manufacturing/Industry
-POS
-Corp/Alliance

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

If there's one piece of advice i could give it is to always remember eve is a video game and treat it as such, take it too seriously and it will consume you. Have fun, make friends and enjoy it. When you do lose your first ship, smile and try to do better next time. I really can't stress enough that if you take it too seriously it will become a frustrating horrible time consuming bane in your life. Oh and one more thing, don't be tempted to mine, it's boring as all hell!
