The Eve News 24 one?
http://www.evenews24.com/2012/08/20/battle-report-42xj-n-madness/

I stopped reading En24 a while back. I meant themittani.com one.

Yeah I read that one too and as I said I feel I was better informed by EvE News 24, I can't say if it was biased, I wasn't there after all.
I just look at the kill logs and watch the videos after giving the story a quick scan.

I wasn't there either as it isn't my time zone. I looked at the En24 article (the horror) and I may point out that one devolved to name calling pretty quickly while the other proceeded to give an accurate account as to why the fight occurred and not just how.

Verdict: en24 is still ****.

edit: I say this because themittani.com article wasn't just "a fight happened! Silly goonies hurf blurf"

I'd like to point out that I like in depth reporting over sensationalist journalism and I'm well aware of what sells more, sadly.

Yeah strangely its supply and demand and like the capitalist system we have if you are not providing the customer with what he wants then you go under.

Or I hear you can still work for Chinese government media and tell people what they don't care about and then you get to be a propaganda machine.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

No a terrible idea is trying to pretend a monitor is a piece of paper and making yourself go blind with black text on white background.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

Ok to save time I will just post the bloody article, as The article does not contain any name calling that I can see, but I am going blind so....

Battle Report: 42XJ-N Sunday Madness.

What follows is a battle report from a Black Legion. pilot who “Was There” – enjoy the reading:
Dotbros, Nulli & IRC vs The Deklein Coalition – 42XJ-N brawl

The war against Goons has started to get ~serious~, with some systems in Tribute starting to have their sovereignty threatened. That was the premise for the start of this nights op. Well, that and Elo promised cap kills, as Goons were reffing things with caps and an 80man support fleet. Some cat and mouse was played in the 03C-SU constellation as DotBros bridged in around 160 man AHAC fleet in an attempt to catch some caps, and then kill them.

Things didn’t quite go that way, and the DotBros ended up bridging back to H-W9TY and then rebridging to Venal for a C0NVICTED Dysprosium moon coming out of reinforce in 42XJ-N.

The hope was a brawl would happen and MAYBE we’d get this moon. (This moon has been the sight of quite a few brawls between DotBros and Goons). The AHAC fleet entered system first, followed shortly by an Intrepid Crossing support fleet of Muninns. Pings were made, warpins were adjusted, and probes were set in preparation of the Goon coming to save the tower.

A Rifter played around near the edge of the pos shields and was the focus of some interceptors, as the general consensus was that this ship was one of the cyno ships that would be used to get Goons into the system. More cat and mouse as the AHACS moved around the system, eventually to the G9D gate when word of an approaching Drake fleet was received.

Then the cynos went up.

Two simultaneous cynos were opened on a tower: one used to bridge in a Maelstrom blob, the other to bridge in tracking dreads/carriers.

Why Goons brought tracking dreads to an AHAC brawl is confusing at best. One cyno Falcon was killed, and the fight, it seemed, was on.

DotBros warped out, then quickly warped in to get better positioning both on the Maelstroms and the caps. Capital ships were primaried first, with a Moros and 2 Chimeras quickly erased from the field. The focus then shifted to the Huginns that were on field. Once sufficient numbers of Huginns/Lachesis/Scorpions were dead, the AHACS repositioned on top of the Maelstrom fleet.

Bubbles went up and a Turkey Shoot commenced. The Maelstroms no longer much of a problem, the Drake fleet was then targeted by the DOTBros. Even as the Goons tried to skirt the range of the AHACS, ships were being killed at a solid pace.

Vily was webbed and pointed and eventually blapped as the rest of the Drake fleet microwarpdrived out of the range of the AHACS. At this point, with their FC dead and DBRB having to take over this fleet (he was fcing the Maels, but was killed) the Goon drakes began disengaging and began to warp off.

DotBros very convincingly held the field, even replacing the tower with their own though it is already reinforced.

It should be noted that IRC lost more Muninns than what is shown in that BR Doctor, and that DBRB rage logged after having his alts killed and podded in each of the Goon fleets. B.Legion best Legion

Another point I'd like to make. Riv is definitely quick to jump on any CFC losses but when it's the other way around you're lucky you see an article within a week let alone at all. Hence why I don't read it Lol

This is the story the rest is just padding

Measure and Counter-Measure

Now we move onto last night, and an enemy fleet that has adapted to what we bring. Since Hilmar's article of last week, first we and then the enemy adapted, and they are no longer are they bringing Tier 3 battlecruisers to lose en masse to bomb-runs. Instead, they have switched to AHACs and a fleet of Black Legion's old, familiar munnins, with instacane support to completely counter bomber runs.

The CFC brought the usual: Alphafleet and Drakefleet. With hostiles already in system shooting the tower, CFC decided on a clever tactic, drake fleet bridged in off the pos to pull the AHACs off the gate, Alphafleet then jumped in. In a matter of minutes all fleets were engaged on the pos, CFC brought in caps to tip the scales. Alphafleet then bounced off to the sun to get range on the AHACs, a move that would generally make sense.

However, with 100 zealots at close range on caps, they started melting dreads and carriers while Alphafleet was not pressuring them. Capitals might no longer be the disastrous loss they once were, but this was still a mistake: the CFC lost 3 capitals, perhaps needlessly. It's difficult to imagine in Eve Online that a single mistake in a 600 man engagement could really change much, but it can and it did. No one enjoys losing capitals, and no one certainly enjoys being the one in charge when they're dying, this is where the anger started, and lasted several minutes until the capitals jumped out.

There was not much chatter after that. Neither the Alphafleet FC nor the Drakefleet FC survived for very long. Comms became quiet as a reinforcement fleet attempted to form up. The hostile AHAC fleet had already reshipped and returned to the fight (due to the proximity of 42XJ to the hostile staging system that I mentioned earlier) while the Alphafleet and Drakefleet were unable to receive any replacements, and any lost ship was lost for good at this point. The organised fighting tailed off, but more ships were lost as people discussed what to do and whether or not to keep fighting. The tower was dead, the mood was not brilliant.

With NC. placing their own tower on the corpse of AIF's former one, the fleets returned home, disheartened once again by the shitfest that is 42XJ - a major juxtaposition from the earlier 1500 man fleet rolling around to take the GIH ihub down.

In all honesty, it actually is a good site. Better written than EVE News 24 is, that's for sure! The features section of the site is very, very well put together with the design being clean, efficient and a pleasure upon the eyes.

Like I said I'd rather read a narrative than a step by step approach to each specific action in the fight. I find a outline of what occurred much easier reading when I'm trying to get a bigger picture of the fight. About the "padding" what's wrong with background in an article? Some people enjoy the politics and greater strategic importance that go into these fights and not just a step by step accounting. (people like me basically. I turn up to these fights but sometimes I don't have a clue what's in the bigger picture besides "we're taking this space/moon. It's nice to see a written account from the people who do.)

But now this is just apples and oranges.

edit: I too would like to see images and video's breaking up the text. But maybe that's just not what they're going for. Given it's only been a week it's still early days yet.

I didn't say there was anything wrong with the padding, just the fact it was not the commentary on the actual fight.

Yes there is a bigger picture to almost everything in EvE and I am yet to find a website that discloses all I would like to know.

Same here. I reckon if they got more contributors from everywhere in EVE (hence why I suggested you put something forward) the site could provide that. But I can imagine people are still put off by the name at this point. I would myself if they didn't already have my side already covered in a far more literate fashion. As soon as they can get more writers from -A- and NC./BL/IRC that'll help smoothen things out. Regardless of my aligned background it's nice to see a site that wants to cover it all as opposed to simply provide a commentary from their own perspective/agenda. Basically, Riv is one bitter Panamanian.

EVE politics aside, I work in the news/web content industry and was rather impressed with the quality. I've seen more blatant yellow journalism and bias to be sure. So, I remain open-minded, if not optimistic, about the publication. It's pretty snazzy looking too. +1

Darn. I really hate admitting this, too.

Otherwise, competition is a good thing. I look for Eve News24 to step up their game as well.
