It is that time a year again when I get spammed by phone calls asking for charity donations.
That in of itself I don't have a problem with.

I give to so many charities a year and I know who they are and they are local.

What gets me is all of these other charities start off and state that I have given to them in the past.
"Can we count on your support like we have in the past years" or something very close to it.
That is a flat out lie.

Either the person is given the wrong information.
(Doubtful as I have heard the very same line at least a hundred times now)
Or they have a card they are reading and they flat out know they are trying to manipulate you.
The funny part it has the reverse effect on me.

Thank you very much but not this year (never), click.

My definition of call center fail.
Go ahead and give to charities by all means please do but make sure you know who you are giving that money to and how much of it actually goes to helping people.

I work at one of those call centers. You don't want the be bothered by us? Stop giving charities your phone number.

One thing you should keep in mind. I'm not the person at fault here. I'm simply doing my job. My computer dials a bunch of people off a list, and I talk to said people. I frankly don't give a **** one way or another about the charities I'm calling for, or you and your problems. I'm just trying to eat and pay my bills. I just happen to have a good voice, a calming demeanor, and am a good conversationalist. Not that it comes out in game or on forums, here I'm just another heartless troll.

This is not the job I ever wanted. But it's the one I could get after my company downsized. I'm not happy here. I'm way under the pay scale I used to make, I'm overqualified, and I'm just doing this until I can find something better. The best thing you can do is check your caller ID, call that number back, and ask to be removed from the call list. Don't rely on the person you are talking to to put you on it. They usually don't, because we get demerits if we get a lot of hang-ups or people asking to be taken off the list, as if it's our fault charities constantly harass their supporters for ever more funds, often screw up the data entry and have people on the SAME list up to 4 times (which means that they get called multiple times for each campaign, even if the have already donated).

TLDR; Stop giving to charities if you don't want them to ask you for more money later.
