Probes not showing on scanner?

I've been jumped by probers twice without any knowledge of them having probes out now even when I spam the scanner every 5 seconds. I have scanner/survey probes ticked off in overview settings, is there anything else too obvious for me to notice?

I can see probes in the overview when they are on the same grid as me, and the directional scanner is set to use overview settings...

It is possible that a decent scout could get his probes on you, hit scan, get 100% warpable hit and withdraw probes without you seeing them. But this is hard to do if you really are hitting scan every five seconds.

I would recheck your settings and make sure you have probes visible on ALL your UI setups just to be sure....

Even with scanning implants I don't think their probes should have the time to scan me in time between the directional scans. Checked all my overview tabs and all of them has all the charges selected, so I'm drawing a blank on that.

I often launch my probes when outside of scan range, send them waaaaay off the map so they can't be found. Setup my formation and get a rough estimate of my target using dscan. Only then do I drop the probes in on top of em.

I guess that might be the reason for not detecting them. First sign of danger has usually been when they appear on dscan in their ship. Maybe I'll go back to probing a bit to get more of a feel for how it is when people probe me as well =)

Have you checked that the range is setup right in the D-scan and it's not set to 2000km range or something daft?

Totally not talking from experience here or anything....Oops

It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Max range at 14-something AU, just holding down 9 until it won't go higher. Will test around a bit with a corpmate when his probes are not on grid but in range.
