[Discussion] Usage of (proper) HTML in Type Descriptions

Hello Spacepeople,

we all know the descriptions of all our lovely modules, ships and what not.
It has come to my attention that with the new Tier 3 Battlecruisers a new - and I have to say very smooth - scheme for writing descriptions has been applied.

It looks like this for the Tornado:

Short description

Traits
Bonuses for each skill level and role bonuses if applicable

Development
Lore about that type


This is very nice!
But - yeah, there is always a but - it uses some ugly HTML from the 90s among other things font and b tags.
I carefully assume that there is a limition in the EVE client that prevents the devs updating the descriptions from using proper HTML tags plus classes / IDs for CSS styling. This styling on the one hand could benefit the display in the client and - on a much wider scale - benefit the 3rd party apps and sites that include the database export.

To give a base for discussion I assembled a new version of the Myrmidon description using - in my opinion - proper HTML tags and classes / IDs to apply styles. Please feel free to give your opinion.

Why I write this thread?
For one to receive feedback from other 3rd party websites on this issue and to receive feedback from CCP if that is possible or if not, why it is not possible - maybe we can find a solution that is beneficial for both sides.

The font rendering engine in the Eve client is not an HTML renderer. It has markup that, as you say, is some ugly HTML-like thing from the 90's, not to be confused with actual HTML.

Thanks for the information, Veritas. That actually helps me a lot, though I'm still a bit sad that my idea is not realizable.
But I'm still very happy with the redesign of the descriptions and if they all use the same scheme as depicted above it should be easy to write a parser / transformer that spits out the proper HTML I want to have.
