So Plex Prices climbing again

I don't know why, but will take a guess, summer is about to end. I think you can track the spikes in plex prices by watching the herd behavior of collage students.

Sometimes people try to make this so bloody complicated, you nailed it. PLEXES are going up because people are buying them to get back into the game after the summer. I don't know anyone who still pays subscrition fee's since making 500 million ISK in Eve today is quite easy.

The reality of Eve is that, if you don't love it like it is today, you should probobly go ahead and unsub.

That's a pretty stiff accusation, curious what evidence you have to support it, other than a minor price fluctation?

there are 2 factors that affect prices, Supply and Demand, demand may well be up, which would increase the value of the things, but also the supply of Plex's may be falling, we're in the middle of a recession, pretty much global, if people stop selling plex's then the ones that are left are bound to increase in value because of their increasing scarcity. The only counter to this is that CCP sell Plex themselves for Isk, and.. that would be bad.Shocked

Also consider the summer coming to an end. People return to EVE from vacations, find that the game is doing well and maybe roll a new alt to explore new ships and tactics.

L4 aren't even half that productiv!

Ice and Ore does not produce any ISK at all. It generates Ice/Ore ONLY (which then is transfared to ISK over the market, yes).

So if there is any inflation it comes from 0.0 anoms!

So at what point does CCP consider putting 'confiscaed' PLEX onto the market & at what prices? Will Dr E's PLEX sink sellers be named something interesting?

According to the CSM minutes, the Bank of Eve (read: CCP) has yet to intervene in the PLEX market this year. They considered it during the graphics card offer, but decided that particular disruption to the market was not big enough to warrant messing with the sandbox. I think that was the right decision, but I wonders how disruptive the PLEX price need to be before they do intervene.

(In case you are wondering, what they can do is sell PLEX from perma-banned accounts and place the ISK in the wallet of those accounts, just in case they some day get un-banned.)

So you buy a plex for $15.00 dollars ccp gets thier money, what do they care how much isk it sells for? Seems to me it would be better for ccp that you got less isk for your plex so you had to buy more plex to get more isk. In other words if your real money netted you 500million isk as compared to 250million. Right now I can get more bang for my buck.

i'M WONDERING THE SAME THING so I posted a question to the CSM sticky thread above when CSM7 thinks CCP should release these PLEX ISK sinks into the market ( I'm curious if they could put a specific number on it like when the average Jita PLEX price=540 million or or 1 billion ISK or if when we see out of the blue jumps o say 20% over the wouse of a week for no apparent reason. )
I'm curious also if all of Eve will be told when it happens or just the CSM will know so their space rich buddies can scoop them up.

CCP does care. Though a price increase wouldn't be what they would want. Having a ton of unused plexes on the market is a liability company wise. Since regular income(subs) is easier and safer to manage, compared to peaks and valley sales(plexes). Not to mention if something where to happen and EVERYONE started just buying plexes(off the market) and stopped subs and plex for $$ stopped then they would be in big trouble. Ofc the chances of this happening are slim but it is a concern.

Log in and you see an add for PLEX. CCP is having one of their PLEX sales. That usually controls these spikes a bit.

Null Sec isn't heavily ratted as lvl 4 missions are. The ratio of null sec dudes running anoms to empire mission runners injecting isk into the economy is very skewed in favor of empire. Go read the blog to where the majority of isk generated comes from.

Hint: its not null sec.
