Character creator - fuzzy/static eyes

I've recently found that if I try to use the character creator I see a sort of fuzzy static effect in my character's eyes, and around the shadow of the hairline. I've tried adjusting the graphics settings, but with no change. I'm running Eve on WINE through Ubuntu 12.04. Anyone have an idea why this might be?
