Drake 8 launchers?

I was watching epic wallpapers of inferno expansion on the official eve website when i noticed the drakes there do have 8 Shocked launchers. While we can actually only fit 7 in game , Sad does this means we are getting 8 in a later expansion or is it just to make us jealous and make the Wallpaper look nice?

as if you look to the drake in game it looks like it has 8 slots for missile launchers (actuel drake not ship info)

If you look at NPC Raven's a lot of them have 8 guns (Meaning 16 with 8 in use.). CCP makes ships with the maximum amount of possible emplacements so if they need to rebalance the ship like say removing a damage bonus from the Hurricane and adding a 7th Gun or making a new ship like a T2 Drake that has an extra launcher the model can accommodate.

I think it's probably a style thing.

Also a problem for the Machariel.

Take a look at NPC Machariels: they have 8 turrets in two neat rows of 4 each.

This is impossible on a player Machariel.

Turrets are a mess because you only have 7 Turret Slots.

Space. It seems to go on and on forever. But then you get to the end and a gorilla starts throwing barrels at you.

1) Not too long ago, they changed models so each external mounting point corresponds to a high slot. Since there are in fact, 8 high slots on a Drake, there are 8 locations a launcher could appear. You just have to choose which is vacant, when you fit that utility mod.

2) NPCs don't follow fitting rules. You'll find rats in an Atron model, shooting rockets at you. I find it best not to worry about whether or not they're fighting fair... and just kill them. =)

You see strange things on rats sometime , i've already seen kestrels with rails , raven with 8 guns + missiles and more...

Also , the 8th "spot" is there for modules that now have a model but don't actually take up a turret/launcher slot.

I'd love to get the Guristas heavy launcher Ferox hull based -they rather look like Nighthawks with T1 resists
Or a Fed Navy Thorax !!

You can do this, too. The Ares has a launcher slot.

You think they would redesign the turret placement for a little more symmetry, lol. Its a BS for crying out loud too! Just give us 8 turrets slots like so many T1 battleships...Though the PG reqs would be a bit high with out implants. Ugh

Or just make the turret in the first slot show as two or something. They won't add a 8th turret because that would make the Machariel insane...

Very first Drake on SiSi had 8 launchers but it was too much so they nerfed it before coming to TQ...

salvagers yes would be a nice fill in to use but the picture doesnt really look very much like it are 7 launchers and a salvager

neither are there much drake npcs tht fly in drake fleets? or am i wrog in that (i havent done real much gurista/caldari ratting)


and this wasnt the fact about npcs flying ships we cant cause then we can start about concord ships and jovians right away was just wondering if this was some kind of silence announcement tht the drake would get 8 launchers like on the wallpaper
but according to the responses i guess it doesnt


edit: and yes i know you can put 1 of those 7 missile launchers in each of the 8 high slots but that still doesnt change the fact that it "looks" like you could fit 8 on it when you look to the drake itself

I wonder of the Amarr Customs frigates still use rails (they used to before the turret revamp, I haven't looked recently enough).
