For the masses, please be sure to inform people what "clear all settings" does, because otherwise someone will probably be a little upset.

I'm not going to reset all my window positions overview settings and everything else because a dev cba'd to do a proper fix. Which file in the settings folder needs to be deleted to fix this without screwing everything else up?

Most of all, why does Aura have the same icon as the help button? It's annoying to have duplicates and I am sure newbies are clicking both with no clue about which is meant to do what.

The tutorial button is Aura. The help button is a blue question mark.

No way i am not going to waste a few hours of my precious time to redo all my personal setting again , just because somebody at CCP is too lazy to fix this

I managed to get rid of it by Clearing my game Caches then turning off tutorials, and restarting the client.

I'm not going to reset all my window positions overview settings and everything else because a dev cba'd to do a proper fix. Which file in the settings folder needs to be deleted to fix this without screwing everything else up?

So, I went in and manually disabled settings files. It looks like the same file that does the un-killable tuts button also stores window positions (the core_char_###.dat file). I can open the .dat file in a plain txt editor, and can find some plaintext references to "tutorial." I tried removing from the beginning of the word "tutorial" to the beginning of the next plaintext word. I think it invalidated my settings file, since it cleared out all my window positions. I restored my backup settings file, and now I'm back to square one. :(

CCP: breaking our settings files sucks a big bag of dicks. How about giving us a real fix? One that doesn't mean we have to start over again as if it were a plain install? As of now, I have apparently put in more work in fixing this thing than the devs.

While you (CCP) are at it, could you also make the rookie channel be something you join through Aura rather than be something that I am stuck with every time I use the Power of Two offer?

I also would like to see some of the settings be something you could suppress through the settings menu ie. attacking another player, jumping into lowsec and other actions that gives me the "ARE YOU SURE?" popup. A new player surely appreciate that kind of forewarning but for me and undoubtedly others, it is just irritating having to go through them all again, should we ever lose our settings... [sarcasm]which has never happened.[/sarcasm]

I tried using the trick I used for getting rid of the Chat icon when the new NeoCom was introduced, create a folder, dropped the Aura icon into it and delete the group and now I find I can't even move the icon on my NeoCom like I have with other accounts.

I'll try the cache thing and see if that works but now way am I resetting all my settings because of this bug.

Well clearing the cache didn't work on either this account, where Aura is now firmly stuck in place and can't be moved on the NeoCom nor on my other account where I can at least drag the icon up to the top out of the way.

I've decided to tippex it out.

As you can see on this funny AP destination screenshot I just took, both Aura and help have the same Aura face.

A VERY VERY long overdue change would be to finally (it's years it's talked about) add the ability to import and export those settings files as XML.

No more crashes, no more deep stink because deleting the corrupt settings = waste 10 hours setting everything back up again, it will be finally be possible to clone settings across characters without spitting blood.

There always seems to be alittle bug after patches, and always often the answer ends up being reset setting, clear cache. Like when T3 ships were flying backwards for many players. Just always seems to be a pain to do, for such a small yet annoying bug, because having to reset up your entire UI again, including the damn overview is such a pita.

I can see that your help icon is wrong for whatever reason and also that your interface is set up awfully

Also imageshack became really really horrible since last time I used it Sad

It's hilarious how gamers these days feel entitled to things that don't belong to them.
