I figure there are a few possible candidates.
1. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
2. Battlefield 3
3. Limbo
4. Portal 2
5. Bastion
6. Dead space 2

Maybe add Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I haven't played it yet so... Oops

I would say that Diablo III would take the cake. But it is now a 2012 release X.

i mean BF3 gears and crap of duty are just shooters, skyrim is just another oblivion.

Portal 2 given the reviews and good reception. Elder Scrolls have won it a few times before so unless it's the greatest game in history it's unlikely to win.

It'll be Skyrim.

Bethesda games often win GOTY because they are in fact generally well-loved, long-lived classics, that do the vooodoo that they do so well.

Considering I heard something about Todd Howard threatening with a Dragon invasion, I'm going to have to go with Skyrim.

Idunno, there's some unknown rule about Bethesda games winning GOTY ;p

I have a horrible feeling that something like Dragon Age II will win, out of the best games its hard to decide, no release has really been that great. Every release has been done to death or had noticeable flaws. Deus Ex: Human revolution for example had a good story, solid game play, good art direction and a rich environment and characters, but it was horribly let down by bad implementation of the voice acting and laughable AI.

If it wasn't for those flaws it would be a strong contender.

Other games so far have been the same, Gears 3 was great but five years of grey and brown chest high walls are getting old now. RAGE had a terrible release on the PC and is still limited as a game.

It depends whats yet to be released but so far nothings really special.
