Lowsec Expedition

Hi all, I'm quite new in EvE, and has never been in low sec to this point. Don't get me wrong - I definetly want to go there, but planned do that for the first time with my shiny cloaky ship which I would have skills for in couple of weeks. However, I scanned down Guristas Watch complex, which resulted in Terrorist Plot expedition, which escalated till the last stage - and the last stage is in the low-sec. What's even worse - in Gallente low-sec, and I have -5 standing with Gallente (didn't bother about it when did missions for Caldari). Another problem is I'm flying Drake right now. So my questions:
1. Is it possible at all to do the last part of this escalation in Drake?
2. Is it worth trying to go to low-sec for the first time in Drake to complete this plex? System in questions seems to be quiet (5 kills\last 24 hour).
3. Will Gallente attack me in their space and if yes - how strong are their NPC in such situation (low standing to faction)?

1. Should be fine in a DRAEK.
2. It is potentially VERY worth it... its also potentially very costly. It will depend on if you get found and what drops.
3. Faction Navy shouldn't chase you to low sec (someone confirm?) and while in high sec, you can just warp on through and they will barely scratch you.

Do it. Insure your ship. Fit a cloak. Warp in, get to the overseer and kill it, bookmark the wreck, and warp to a safe. Cloak. Warp back to the wreck in two minutes, loot.
(I'm not sure on this escalation, but I think it's one where the overseer is just there when you warp in. So just pop it. It's only slightly more complicated if there a room to clear before you can get to him.)

Faction navies won't do anything in low so no worries there. Biggest risk is the jump in. Once in the site just watch for combat probes as they will be the only way to find you. The site isn't public so core probes won't matter.

The dangers of low are overrated. Just have your shot at it.

You're going to die sooner or later, may as well have a shot at getting expensive loot while you're at it Smile

I have to disagree. 4 times out of 5 you'll be lucky, but don't think it isn't crawling with ganking goons looking for your ass.

If you're going in, I recommend going in with a shuttle or something to check out the route first.

For those who interested, I did it :)
First explored gates with cheap frigate, made some bookmarks. There was one lonely guy on one of the gates, but he had quite high security status, so I didn't bother much. Then sit in my drake and got to the destination without any problems (though 3 low-sec systems). However, target system was part of Fractional Warfare, so I hitted D-scan like a crazy :) Finished in about 10 minutes, but unfortunately main guy didn't drop anything valuable, so I was a bit upset. Anyway that was quite nice experience. Now I'm also interested in Fractional Warfare. If I'm in players corporation, can I join FW?
P.S: thank you all guys for the help.

Haven't dabbled in fractional warfare, but I hear those numbers put up crazy good fights. Divide and conquer, as they say.

Can you hear them? They are calling to us. It is beautiful. http://thegreattichim.wordpress.com/

A story of someone actually exploring while doing exploration. Nice work.

Great read, thanks for posting! Too few people bother to even try. Just check out systems first before just blundering in, and low sec can be fun and not too bad at all.

You can join FW as an individual only if in NPC corp, otherwise your entire corp has to join. And FW is great fun; or rather, I had a great deal of fun in it off and on for years. Haven't been back since the FW game changed from fights to farming plexes for LP, tho. Shame, really.
