This is awful advice. This is what turns you into the "noble solo pvper" who tries to fight what he thinks is a pve fit tengu by bringing a bhaalgorn and ecm alt, or the guy who does nothing but sit on a gate with a sebo legion with scouts 2 jumps in both directions.

You can look at my Killboard if you wish; and decide for yourself if you think I am one of those people

You get like 10 kills per month and kill mostly haulers, noobships and frigates. The frigate kills are almost all ganks with a battleship or t3. You have nearly no solo kills. Those that you do have are mostly t3s vs missioning battlecruisers or t3s vs covops. So you dont use a falcon alt, good for you. That doesnt mean your killboard is anything close to impressive.

You are obviously too ignorant to see when I had taken numerous month breaks from the game; good on you!

While my killboard may not be impressive to you. I do ransom and hijack enough ships to keep my head above water and cover the costs of my ships. I have few solo kills? (So your definition of solo kills if you going to a celestial and 1vs1'ing a frigate to buff your battleclinic stats?). Have you honestly looked at the killboard or are you just saying that?

Not sure if you are a troll or just incredibly ignorant.

I am looking to go down the pirating path in eve. Mainly sticking to Frigates and Cruisers until I build up some experience and better skills.

I am guessing that most pirates must have some form of carebear activity alt? What would be the best route to take for this, mining or mission running?

most of the answers have been stated, but to elaborate.

A number of pirates have alts for income (missions, mining, passive income, trading, manufacturing etc etc etc.)

A lot of pirates in fw, missions plexes and pvp yield ample income.

exploration near home.

DED plexes (also good for generating pew)

loot pinatas and pod ransoms (almost no one ransoms ships unless the circumstances rarely yield a time when you should)

PLEX

merc contracts

corp theft (alts)

scamming

Winning a hell of a lot more than losing, and selling/using the pvp mods dropped by those you cross swords with.

Of course there are more, but here are some examples of how you can fund yourself

I has all the eve inactivity
