And here I was thinking that the Olympics were a celebration of the human spirit and a good natured contest between the best all nations have to offer. Guess I was wrong. Sad

They are.

The Olympics is over now though and the "being a tool" thing that pervades the world is back.

Off topic, flame baiting, trolling and personal attack posts deleted. To everyone, if you have to resort to slurs, personal attacks and baiting, it may be best you don't post at all. Russia did surprisingly well. I thought they would make the top 10 in the count, but they made it top 3. A job well done.

O'zbekiston got a gold medal. Not as good as they did in beijing, but i was still pretty happy. Nobody ever roots for them, where im from.

Patriotic pride in results is well and good but the real pride I feel is in putting on a good show. A few of my colleagues from my squadron got pulled in at short notice (cheers g4s) . Heck even I was involved in changing a fuel manifold at short notice to get a additional helicopter for security ready in time for the games. (Staying nearly 3 hours late). That's how I felt connected. Jolly good show all round.
