Armor, New mods re-balance ?

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with armor, it fits a few niche things quite well(some blobbing, solo pvp megathron and dominix, afk mission domi, etc.). But EvE would be more interesting if most armor boats were slightly more useful in general terms. For example, it's cool that an armor myrm can have 4 spare mid slots and the ehp of a drake but it's not practical in small fleet warfare because it's 300m/s slower than the drake, does 150 less dps, can't safe up and regen HP, and takes 6 seconds longer to align(max skills dual 1600 myrm takes 17 seconds, 0 nano drake 11.7s). So unlike a drake or cane which are forgiving when things go south you are instantly screwed if you are in an armor myrm or harbi. Speaking of the poor harbinger, have you ever tried to buffer fit a harbinger? Armor plates require a large amount of powergrid, you could give the harbinger 400 more grid and it'd still fit tight if you wanted to use good pulse lasers. As for the argument to put an 800 on the harbi instead, you may as well just go get a shield hurricane it has almost as many EHP, but goes over 50% faster.

A while back I was solo raiding a C1 wormhole with a shield cane and grabbed a drake knowing he was bait. When he hit mid shield a pilgrim decloaked and another drake landed. As the first drake hit low hull the pilgrim's ECM drones jammed me, I hit heat on my MWD and blasted off towards a celestial and waited for my drones to get in before I left. In an armor harbi I'd have been completely screwed even with a rack of ec-600's in it 3 ships would be a nearly impossible jam. In an armor myrmidon I'd have been just as dead as I would in the harbi but the first drake wouldn't have even had its shield tank broken.

I'd like to be able to use all of the armor ships for a change of pace, just not literally. I know I get spare mid slots but I don't always engage in PvP where I know I'll win (unlike a lot of people) and those mid slots mean nothing when it's not an equal numbers fight.

ignoring all the trolls (the feather rufflers, yes you)

active armor tanking is really nowhere near as awesome as active shield tanking.

/thread.

whether or not you agree does not matter, its the point.

should we fix it? that is the question.

Did you know that even Devs in CSM minutes said that damps need some love and you writing thats fine ?

Yeah, they also thought that unified inventory was a good idea, that we would be satisfied with us being unable to open the DOOR... It's commonly thought (if not known) that players-know-better-about-the-game-than-devs.

I agree that damps are not the most easy-to-use tool, but I can tell you that it is a viable choice for small engagment situations.. precisely where 'passive tanking' in armor (I hate that term) is less present. :)

Active armor/shield tanking are viable choice in only a small part of all the possible situations anyway.

The difference is that when you're active shield it leaves you even less room for E-WAR, then even less possibilities in medium size engagments. As opposed to the armor version, but this last one may be in some cases less efficient in terms of tanking than it's shield version.

So again I think that it is more a matter of knowing 'what you can do' (and you can do a lot of things in both styles).

Posting in a not-very-well-steathed ASB whine thread.

however active armour could use a little love

EDIT: Also, why does it seem that nobody can spell Huginn? What?

or rapier. Sure but armor races dont have bonuses to the web .

Its too bad that the game requires people to fly fleets of only one race

i very rarely reply to these types of posts, and i prolly shouldnt this one either. but i am.

OP, let me give you a piece of advice that will help you out in both the short term and the long term.

quit. thats it, simple and direct. many people already have given you multiple solutions for "YOUR PROBLEM", but since they dont conform to YOUR ideas you refuse to accept them. so just biomass your toons, cancell your subscriptions and go find a game that will hand you a "I WIN" button.

there is not a single ship/setup in this game that doesnt have multiple counters. and even if CCP did hand you the changes you want, do you really think it wouldnt take all of 5 minutes for someone to devise a counter to it? a fail fit is a fail fit. if you cant be bothered now to learn the MULTIPLE counters to every single design... what makes you think you will be bothered to learn a new one?

EvE isnt just made to look like a cold harsh VIOLENT game... it IS a cold harsh violent game. and i for one am tired of whiners screaming and demanding that CCP change EvE to fit them.

so TL:DR? go away

Armor allows you to effectively run an AB to sig tank. It also leaves your mids free for EWAR.

Finally, T2 Plates now provide a bigger HP bonus than Meta 4, and you have a new resistance module that's only stacking penalized with DCs.

Finally, Lasers (used by noted armor tankers, the Amarr) have spectacular base damage for their range. An Abbadon with 2 Damage Mods will outdamage a Mach with 2 damage mods anywhere outside of ~10km.

So you sayin that everything is OK ?

I agree, I think armor is totally fine right now, and shield are fine also.

I have not flown an Armor PVP ship in a long time. But when one Race has the shortest ranged weapons and the 2nd slowest ships when fit there is a tiny imbalanced. IMO Mimmatar should have shortest engagement range as they are the fastest ships. Don't say that oh they have to fight in falloff. This is a crap argument as they do great damage in there first range of falloff. Let mimmy ship try hit and run tactics for a bit instead of kitting tactics. See if they feel everything is fair then.
