There seems to be a high correlation with the type of sockets users who are affected by the lockups have.
Users with cpu socket 1155 and with ATI 7000 series do not seem to have lockups.

Just a reminder for those who haven't read the entire thread is that there are few games out there that lock up with ATI 7000 series. Eve and Total War are one of them. Other games don't lock up.

I'm running an Intel 1155 Socket and I'm also experiencing these issues with my HD7850, running 12.7 Beta driver.

During the freeze-
Can you move your mouse? Can you hear sound during?
Can you ctrl-alt-delete?

+1. I try to spam close the EVE client once it happens but it just eventually freezes after black screening.

I know that my locking up issues stopped when I changed the registry flag on EnableUlps to 0 on my ati card.
under LOCAL_MACHINE, swap the 1 for 0 on dword EnableUlps.

Same issues here - dual-boxing on a 7850, and it seems to crash mostly when I tab between the clients. Haven't tried opening a map yet on this card - other people's reports on that have scared me off of the idea - but the tabbing thing is mostly repeatable. Doesn't seem to have any correlation beyond tabbing.

The lockup freezes my entire system, necessitating a cold boot. Glad to see it's not just me having this issue.

Looks like AMD has just released WHQL 12.8. Will see if this helps at all.

Installing 12.8 atm. Here's to praying I can actually multi-client with multiple monitors again :).

Another disappointment =/. The newest drivers from AMD(12.8) did not fix the issue. Bluescreened and it actually cleared my EVE cache due to the crash. WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNING.

Pretty dang frustrating that I have four accounts currently active but havent been able to truly play for over two months now.

Amazing how both games that have problems are nvidia sponsored ones. Similar as with EVE getting a lot more issues with AMD cards after they jumped in to bed with nvidia.

Perhaps we need everyone with AMD to tell CCP to go to hell so they actually start doing their work.

I have 2 paid for accounts that dont work properly.A little nod in our direction just to say, we are doing more than lookin into this on our lunch break wouldnt go a miss.

Yea CCP needs to say something like we know about the problem and are on it instead of just saying put in a bug report.

So.... EVE and whole CCP is nVidia possitive, testing and optimising their games on nVidia and dont give a sh**t about AMD users ....BUT...... AMD is the one who is making bad and unstable cards? Shocked ...

Except this problem is manifesting with nvidia cards as well. The frustrating thing is it is not just the card. People with similar cards are having differnet results. Some are experiencing this freeze problem some are not.

I personally have a desktop and a laptop with nvidia cards. The lappy is running along fine with eve. The desktop is fubarred with freezes with eve since one of the early follow up patches to inferno.

Plus one to having some dev make a post saying they know they have a widespread freeze problem and are searching for the disagreement between the client and the video cards of those affected. I doubt it is driver specific as both my machines are running the same nvidia latest beta driver. So it may have to do with specific settings on the cards or maybe it is just part the ongoing memory leak problems the game has had. Really would be nice to have some official indication that someone is investigating.

yes. If hardware is crashing, its always the hardware vendor to blame in the first line.
