Hey guys. After playing EVE for just over 6 years I am thinking about calling it a day.

I am trying to find a new game to play in my spare time, either single player or another MMO. I have looked at X3 Terran Conflict and Anno 2070. Any of you guys and gals play these games? If so are they worth getting into?

Any other game recommendation is welcome :D

Go play some DayZ... It will make you wish you were playing Eve.

Also, I didnt think I would ever find a game harder than Eve....

i love DayZ, but it is HORRIBLE to play on crowded servers, and you really start to turtle it after you bandaged that guy who was hurt, and eventually shot you for your beans the second you look away.
that game is more heartless and forsaken than EVE, and can be hard if played solo.

i can suggest Sins of a Solar empire: Rebellion, Galactic civilizations II ultimate edition, legends of pegasus (but it's god horribly expensive), Skyrim w. dawnguard, every single game in the fallout series and DayZ.

There are three games I'm always recommending:
Dwarf Fortress - even harder than EVE
Minecraft - already has some awesome features
Project Zomboid - Awesome Zombie Survival still in development

Do you know what's really dumbing down eve? Graphics! If you really want a hardcoregame with a learning curve that even beats eve: Try bay12games.com/dwarves

tbh if you are looking for a new as in "new" mmo, fps, rpg etc etc.

Give up, you will not find a single one that gives you even the slightest challenge regardless of difficulty, games these days are so dumbed down for 12yo emo retards that its beyond me how someone with an IQ above 50 can struggle with any new game.

I have not played a single good and fun game since well, not in a long time. Eve is the only game as of lately that actually provides some fun.

Minecraft is a piece of trash as there is so many kids on it, you can have server run, 40 slot for £30 a month and gurantee you it is full every night and everyone is between 8 and 12 years old. So its basically full of idiots and griefers.

WoT is fun for like, 3-4 tier's worth of grinding, once you get to tier 5 and 6 tanks the rest just becomes an XP farming game and its not as if its fun doing it. Oh and barely anyone speaks english on the Euro server, its ******* annoying going into a game and typing "good luck have fun" and everyone is speaking in a different language.

The last single player game I played from start to finish was Mafia II, due to the epic story and way the characters got a hold of your attention. I just couldnt put it off :D.

However I wouldnt play any single player games now tbh, may as well whip out the KY Jelly and finger bang my rear if I am going to play with myself.

100% agree, sep for the finger banging part 0.o

MMOs these days don't give you the opportunity to think for yourself. It really reminds me of watching TV more than playing a game, some thing always pulls you through the game you don't do much of anything yourself. Eve is probably the last that will ever requier some thought.

If you want a hard and fairly complex rpg go with the last remnant.

Well, since Mount and Blade: Warband has been mentioned I have over 500hours logged in steam playing Warband for just one simple mod: Prophesy of Pendor .

I have beaten it 3 times already as a good guy, a bad guy and as something in between just for the fun of it. Its ultra hardcore, specially if u play on max or close to max settings, the new troop trees and in game events are awesome, plus the Order creation mechanic with the myriad of possible Knight Orders to create make it a thriving game.

Hardest so far has been trying to grind up the rep for the Eventide Order and creating an Evil Empire of sorts with evil npc heroes as your companions.

I have played other warband mods, but so far, PoP is simply the best for me. Play it legit, from level 1 no gold imports and you will see what I mean about the beauty of the game.

Also its not very newbie friendly, giving you a challenge, assuming you are not one of those guys that plays Warband at 15% difficulty or something Bear

I have also enjoyed lately World of Tanks (easy to play from Work with short matches)

Give Deus Ex: Human Revolution a try too, story is good, but gameplay is a blast with a pumped up stealth jensen.

Just Cause 2 is good too to kill time. Pretty simple game but good to blow off some steam or just cruise around, also theres a multiplayer add on being worked for it by the community btw.

I know it might not be what you are looking for but give LOTRO a try. Its a soft paced MMO that is F2P that in the sea of fantasy MMOs gives you a good backstory (Tolkiens World) and some of the classes are just too fun to play with, like Minstrel and Captain.

I could reccomend RIFT, but I tried it, grinded to 50 in 2 weeks and found out its too shallow for my tastes, at least in LOTRO I get something more in the sense of history, though I applaud the soul mechanic that lets you play within a specific tree other "classes".

If you into MOBAS, try to find a DOTA2 invite. I know a lot of people here swear by LoL or even HoN, but I really enjoy DOTA2 over those two.

Unless the Dev team and general business managament plan has changed for WG, then WoT is still going to suck ass a lot of the time.

Anyone else tried Fallen Earth?

Its a multiplayer MMO set in a post apocalyptic world. Players build all the weapons, ammo, all the gear and even their own vehicles.

Well recommended but dont make the mistake of trying to excel in all areas, devise a playstyle and stick to it!

I am really enjoying my Crossbow shooting, horseback riding cowboy type dude at the moment.

But I also have a dual pistol wielding biker chick. Lol

this and use mods to enchance the game
DO not under any circumstances buy the DLC Dawnguard, it is buggy and full of glitches and the few features that were added , well mods do a better job

This just sounds like standard Elder Scrolls stuff. What makes these bugs and glitches so bad?

I played it from beta to about six months I think, maybe more. It was actually a really fun game but during my time I think the devs were listening to the player base too much and kept trying to please everybody so the game strategy resembled that of a bipolar kid. We went through 3 ceo's and they still hadn't gotten the new area done when I left.

I know it's been F2P for a while now and I've got the game on my desktop still. I think some day I might jump back into it.

Since they've probably fixed all the game-breaking bugs in Dark Souls on the PS3, I would recommend that if you have a PS3 or 360. I haven't played it on the PC, but I never really thought it would work on a PC though given the type of game it is.

It's a "dungeon crawler" game, but where there is absolutely no mercy on you, lots of random, spontaneous PvP that you can't consent too, and is a beautiful game to boot. But realize that it is HARD... Well, at least it's hard after you beat the first few bosses. Just be prepared for that, it isn't a game for the light hearted.

I highly recommend the X games, the latest iteration X: Rebirth will be out soon, and if you get Terran Conflict, it and Albion Prelude can get you into the swing of things.

The X games are highly modifiable and there are lots of mods available in the modding section of the Egosoft forums. I simply cannot play it unmodified at all.

P.S. I hear Anno 2070 sucked. :)

Rome Total War

A classic for me that never gets old. They sell a battle pack that includes medieval 2 which is basically the
same game. I love that game.

Another classic which is pretty dated now but is a must play game.

Arcanum

Very original game, RPG.

I just got into the Firefall Beta this past weekend. FPS mmo with a anime look to it. Spent about an hour on it and I can see potential for the game which is unusual for me because I generally don't like to plays FPS's in multiplayer unless its with friends (I really, really hate hackers).

Parallel Kingdom has been a cool find that I enjoy. I play the web version. It is a 'free' to play that is not wholey true. The main jist is that it uses Google maps and you are able to claim land by building flags or claim water by building bouies. The flag/bouy plots are 5km diameter and mosters spawn that you kill for experience (pages) and materials to build flags and/or craft items. The best part is that it can be a pvp centric game; any player, at any time can start to burn down and flag, bouy, kingdom/city tower or flag, for any reason they see fit. I personally enjoy the explorere class and love to build cities around the world for significantly less expensive traveI. I find the player driven economy to be fairly dynamic, although the web version suffers from a significantly smaller player base then the phone version.

The web version tends to be more peacefull then the phone version, but all out pvp can be had if you push the right people enough.

http://www.parallelkingdom.com/guide/en/page1.aspx

If you feel like giving the web version a try you can pm Kraygar and I will mentor you. Just mention my name from here.

P.S. I really like the game and I am set enough to not have the need to push my code for recruitment reward. Just wanted to throw that out there.

I'm sorry about this, but World of Warplanes is comming out first. I'm testing the beta and, while they have a lot of work to do into the balancing side (german planes are just OMFGLOLROFLPWN now) it is promising in the plane roles and mission objectives.

Also, while not a sim, it is not an arcade and you need to know how to fly and perform combat maneuvers to win.

At this moment, german planes with Mk108 cannon are just way overpowered. I have killed jets and tier VIII assault planes on my Tier VI heavy fighter with ease, and the BF109 can outmaneuver and out climb any plane on the same tier.

Well, technically those were facts, and the only reason the allies won the air war was because of logistics, not quality (the glorified mustang was not made for dogfighting afterall)

On the other side, I have tested Endless space which is a new 4X game and it is wonderful to watch and to play.

And i'm also trying to make a cold start again in the X3, but this time in the Albion prelude. I still remember thinking about the X3 and how it shall be multiplayer. Now that i found EvE, I'm willing to play casual against the IA in X3.

Seems we are never statisfied XD

both very good games. but no longer than 2 month for anno and maybe 3 months for X3..

the only games that last years are games with PvP.

You can try Starcraft or BF3 if you dont like MMO PvP

But seriously there is no better MMO than EvE.. If you like PvP then Starctaft 2 is maybe the best game that has PVP. Most complex meta game. highest rewards. biggest PVP Playerbase (go to teamliquid.net)

Thats for games that last longer than 2/3 Months though.

Any other Singleplayer game will do it for some weeks.. but no longer htan that.

(best Single Player games looking at time: GTA4, TES Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim, .....)

If you are into SIms: try out Arma 2 with its newest mod: DayZ (extremely thrilling - will do it for several Months if you can find some good guys) - leanring the arma isnt a waste of time, cause ArmA III is around the corner too!
