High Sec Pod Ganking

Right, so I am flying into jita after a long hard day in eve to sell some loot and I happen to run across a red just hanging out sitting there in a pod next to the station and think to myself being afk in a pod even in high sec is idiotic. I go into the station relax a bit sell some thing buy some things, you know the usual. And when I come back out to head back about my business that red is still sitting there, in his pod, not moved and I find that he needs to suffer some sort of repercussion for his annoying me and that it is up to me to do something about it.

So I go back into station build myself a tech 2 fit blaster catalyst. some void ammo and a few wep upgrades and go out there and kill him. My sec status drops like a rock from 5.0 to -2 and I get a nice 100 mil pod kill on someone who was grating on my nerves. And after all that I remember thinking to myself that the only thing I regret was not the loss in sec status, not the loss of profit or fight or anything of that sort but the amount of isk I paid for a t2 fit cat which came to be roughly 12 million isk perhaps.

Now, by whatever bizzare coincidence the same red is sitting outside the station again in a pod again, and I am wanting to kill him again, but I dont really feel like throwing out 12 milllion isk and throwing it away for another pod kill. So I am wondering what the minimum setup (dps) is for insta poping a pod in highsec.

Assuming a player has max skills
x3 tech2 neutron blasters, void ammo
Incursus
tech 2 damage mods

could this insta pop a pod in 1.0 before being concorded?

get a thrasher, fit it with the cheapest meta mods. done

with arties and 2 shots of faction ammo (pod only), gyro's in the lows

Edit: also to answer your question, its dangerous to use blasters, even t2, because of the low alpha and the time to getting jammed.

Thrasher.
7x meta0 280mm Artillery + RF depleted uranium S (1 shot per turret)

That's actually all you need.

For flavor, add an istab and a meta0 gyro, but not really needed.
(except maybe for slaved pods if you lack skills)

meta0 sensor boosters with scan resolution if you care about locking times.

Ranges around 15-18km, again depending on your skills.


If you wanna shoot pods out of shuttles, noobships, small frigates,
drop me an eve-mail and i'll give you a cheap thrasher fitting that works around gates/stations
with four sentry turrets to blast the pods out of their ships ... and then the pods themselves.

PS: And ignore the "say goodbye to highsec" comment, because it's bullshit.

If they are red you can shoot them in highsec without concord intervention. Why would you be concorded?

Red doesn't necessarily mean pirate, it can also be low standings (personal, corp, alliance).
