I think most likely it is that CCP wants to make it clear that this is a bug and not some preferential treatment for certain people.

Of course there might be a possibility that something might glitch with your avatar when they remove it from your character while you have it on. By making this clear here they have given you a bit of warning if your avatar corrupts and crashes. Call me paranoid but I would listen to CCP Karkur on this one and it doesn't hurt to be in good standing with the devs.

A little update on this.

We will be fixing the bug soon (probably tomorrow) and removing the monocle from those characters that have it on.

Like I've said before, this is a bug and the monocle was never supposed to be added to the character creator (as is obvious by the fact that it doesn't even have a thumbnail).

I would still recommend taking it off right now.... even though you all look really good with it on Big smile

Why is this such a big deal? Your error your problem. Let them keep it. Why not? Does a eye plug cause tranq to crash? Will it destroy the market? No. It's just one of those odd, random, qwerky things that gives EvE character. What you're selling now is all the bugs of eve without any of the fun.

Pffft. There's a difference between replacing a line of code in the combat mechanics and some silly graphic in the character creator. There's no gameplay there anyway. You can't f-up Incarna any more than it is. If you could do anything besides sit on your sofa you might... and I can't stress the word "might" enough, have a point. As it is... would it matter if we could set ourselves on fire in CQ? I don't think so.

I now ... still have the monocle.

But I no longer have eye or lipstick options. They have ceased to exist.

Thumbs up for live-testing things on us.
