It's pretty late now so I won't try to figure out what's up with it right now, but I'll look into it tomorrow morning.

Why does the monocle look like a monocle on female avatars, but on males it looks like someone used a ball-peen hammer to mash it into their socket?

The Ishukone shirt wasn't supposed to go back on the nex store - but it did and annihilated several billion in investments I made. I'll keep the monocle thanks Pirate

I was scratching my head at this earlier when I was messing with the character creator. Glad to see it wasn't intentional.

She did ask kindly; she didn't insist.

I think /not/ wearing it would be cutting ourselves out of quite a bit of potential status and/or profit later on.

Imagine if Chribba had never "exploited" the ability to build a dread in highsec. Would everyone come to recognize the veldnaught as the status symbol that it is today?

Perhaps one day the black monocles will hold the same recognition if CCP would be as kind as to leave the existent ones in the system.

Or maybe I'm just being greedy.

New products tend to cost more to start with as they also carry the research and development costs.

I asked kindly because it was a Saturday night and I just found out about this, and didn't know what was going on.

I do not know if equipping it will be considered an exploit (it might be), but it might cause me a lot of problem after we fix it and some people have it on, so I want to ask you again to take it off... almost insisting that you do so.
We now know how this happened, and it def. not intentional, so please don't exploit it... that will make me sad Sad

I want to thank you though for bringing this to our attention.

I'm sorry about that... that was a mistake on our part. But if you had the shirt before it went on sale in the NeX, you should still have the shirt, and you should have gotten a very rare coat in your redeeming system last Wednesday.

I have really, really mixed feelings on this.

When anything goes wrong in EVE, when there's any glitch that players exploit, it gets some degree of attention.
Currently, everything avatar-related suffers, primarily, from not getting enough attention. Glitches like this certainly wouldn't emerge with more testing and QA staff paying attention to incarna-related features.

When the FW exploit occurred, we ended up with a dev blog specifically drawing attention to FW mechanics. Suddenly, a whole lot more people started paying attention to FW, looking for their own ways to turn a quick profit.

When a unique version of a billion-isk item appears in some players customization screen, then of course it will draw attention, and in this case, I think all press is good press. It's high time that players actually payed attention to avatars and customization, even if it takes a glitch to get their attention.

All I want is to see players actually using and looking at avatar features so that we can /finally/ get over the negative press from Incarna's initial release.

Wearing this abnormal, attention-garnering item is the best way I can think of to vocalize that.

It's a statement of "Look what you get when you pay attention to avatars! Maybe you should be paying attention too!"

So unless you're going to force us to remove them, I can only see this as more of a blessing than a curse.

If it's going to cause some huge trouble to remove them from the avatars that already have them, then just leave them be.

I understand that, from a dev and GM perspective, you're probably not allowed to just let a leaked, unapproved item sit in the hands of a few players.

But from my perspective, I can't see anything more beneficial to furthering my own dream for what EVE /should/ be.

So this is my heartfelt though pointless plea for you to just let us keep them.

The thing is that we made very few changes to the character creator in this patch (the only changes to the customization step was ability to have greenscreen), so there was not extensive testing done on the assets. When we do add new stuff, of course we test it like crazy Smile

I do really appreciate that you want people to embrace the characters, I would really like that too Smile

Are we forgetting The new borg implant? Or is that entirely unrelated?

I assumed that the black monocle was a glitch related to the "release" of this item onto tranquility.

I'm not trying to be an antagonist here; I just want a clearer idea of why this thing is on my head and why I can't keep it. Blink

To be honest I didn't know what the release state of it was, didn't realize the type was in yet. We have not yet done all the work needed for that to get into the hands of players.

But this bug is connected to that. A small authoring mistake was made on the black female monocle when this item was added (shouldn't have been touched at all), resulting it being available in the character creator.
