Missile launcher configuration

lets say we have a ship with 7 launchers, is there a particular configuration for the launchers effectiveness ie all 7 grouped together or grouped in 4/3 or 3/2/2

My guess is it would depend on what you're doing. Does something die to 2 launchers? Does it take 3? Do you end up throwing all 7 at the same target? Do you care about wasted missiles?

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

With the graphical change to missiles, I would just go with whatever grouping looks cooler.

We did some testing on Serpentis rats. BS specificly.
Grouped missiles killed them faster than seperated launchers.
The rats regen and they also shoot defenders. The groupings helped water down the defenders, and also helped push past the regen rates.

I group in PvP too.

Even though the new graphics are cool, I really miss the big ball o fire that used to be grouped missiles.

Fully group for maximal hurt to primary, PvE or PvP, target. Fully ungrouped for maximal potential KM w.h.o.r.ing … but keep ya fingers crossed that FC isn’t having a bad day and doesn’t notice.

p.s. Not really a grouping issue but, if you put the utility module near the middle slot, you will get a little better life from your overheated launchers. Not such a big benefit with 7-weapons and 1-utility, but when that ratio changes (e.g. a stealth bomber with 3 torp launchers and two other slots) you start seeing significant benefits in a torp launcher - covops cloak – torp launcher – bomb launcher - torp launcher setup.
There was a nice ‘research’ paper on this a year or so ago, prolly findable still via your friendly google provider.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

F1, F2, F3, F4 and so on. Make sure each launcher is loaded with a different damage type JUST IN CASE. Your best bet is to load your first 2-3 launchers with EM damage to knock out their shields, then Thermal damage to knock out their armor and structure doesn't matter.

Also, make sure you have some blasters fit JUST IN CASE, and maybe an AutoCannon JUST IN CASE.

Make sure you mix your drones too; a few light scouts and a few medium scouts JUST IN CASE.
