Dromaeosauridae are bird-like. but not birds yet.

Birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs. The only living ones, besides crocodiles, which are far more loosely related.

You might also be interested in knowing that nearly every case of fossilized skin imprints of dinosaurs found showed signs of feathers.

T-Rex probably looked more like this.

Bird-like.

But it's still a drake, part of a drake fleet.

A dragon, part of a Dragon fleet sounds much more bad ass.

Pretend they mean a european dragon and not a duck. Drakes are dragons too.

It isn't a case of "multiple meanings". "Velociraptor" means "swift bird of prey" or "swift predator". Raptor is Latin, FYI. The word significantly predates the discovery of the velociraptor.

You simply don't understand it.

Raptor has a definite meaning. The dinosaur Velociraptor was given its name specifically because of what it meant. And you seem to think Raptor refers specifically to the dinosaur that contains the word in its name.

It is just as stupid as thinking that the Amazon rainforest was named after Amazonsaurus, or that the sun was named after Helioceratops.

No u.
The list was a design decision by which had no criteria other than possible pure avians and some silliness. A general term for a large group of birds was overshadowed in my eyes by a genus of dinosaurs.

Makes the most sense as most Caldari ships are named after birds.

I hope they name the next new Caldari ship "Serval."

It would somewhat fit (there already is a ship named directly after a cat), and just sounds cool.
