Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.

Don't worry. Some things never change. The bigot had his voice removed. Smile Just in the time it took me to see his post, then check his bio to see that he was actually a newish player himself and make a note to never join his corp, then come back to the thread.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Players who called themselves pirates actually acted like pirates, not bored players harvesting rookie ships and pods because they thought it made them look leet.

You fit whatever you wanted on your ship because it was all you could get.

There was no WTZ but you didn't need it if you knew how to do bookmark fu or how to run.

Missiles were not funny. OK they were unless you were getting hit by them.

Gallente ships only LOOKED like crap.

People actually had real combat instead of Blob/Run away from blob.

You had to have more intelligence than an autistic monkey to use probes. (hence if you can get past the camps, you could actually do stuff outside of highsec)

Ships were so fast the client could not render them fast enough.

Back in the day, players had balls to post with their mains, instead of hiding behind alts today and expecting readers to accept what they say at face value.

Forgotten, no, but did forget to mention. Can't forget since I still have them in my hanger along with two Breachers with cruise missiles loaded in the launchers. It's a shame we can't at least use them up.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned...

... we had safe spots 300 AU from any orbital body, and they were safe enough to leave stuff at for YEARS. Who had scanning to lvl 5 to even think about looking for them. No one, that's who.

(I remember being in a fleet that got the worst of a fight up north somewhere, mining system with a station controlled by the enemy, then realizing I had a deep-space safe. Went there in my singed pod and had a Helios floating in space waiting for me from at least a year earlier. HAHAHA! I laughed in TS. I think I may just make it out of this after all, but yeah, you all are screwed.)

... we were silly enough to put 150 million worth of large rigs on our favorite interceptor, once they came out that is.

Just a thought and I could be wrong...

...but weren't rigs originally one size; and once CCP decided to make large, medium, and small rigs to fit towards their respected ship size, defaulted all the current rigs in the game to large, including the blue prints? I thought there was discussions about the oddity that the same sized rig doing the same function would work on both a battleship and a frigate (or something similar in nature).

Speaking of various sizes, star gates were all the same size once too. Then CCP made them "different" based on where the gate was launching a ship: next solar system in the same constellation, into a new constellation, etc. And the old gates used to hummingly pulse while spitting out energy as if they were about to burst.

  • Entire regions in deep space without insurance services.
  • WCS on every solo pvp ship and endless counter-accusations about how many a painted lady of the evening was packing
  • Iteron gangs swarming over a trit hauler spawn
  • Concord was killable
  • (Others have mentioned): Cruise kessies, gankageddons, heavy drone plate raxes, mining bs

Getting stuck with crappy attributes forever on account of being clueless during the original character creation process.

...
We can't bring back the old hardware, but the player behavior is a matter of personal choice. For example, if you miss the days that ransom's were honored, then start honoring them ... maybe if enough of the vets got into the habit of acting in the old ways, the old ways would make a comeback.

The Jedi are not gone... only in hiding.
