Blatant grammatical error in the main UI (even in Inferno Patch)

Hello, I'm a new player to this game so forgive me for not knowing what certain windows are called but one thing I noticed right away is a very blatant grammatical error in the right hand Agents tab where you get tutorial missions from. The text above the agent says "Available to you" it should read "Available for you" instead. An Agent is available for a person not to a person. You bring objects to people not other people (even if they are virtual people, like a game agent, lol) So it needs to be changed to the word "for" otherwise anyone with good grammar skills in English will think poorly of Eve Online and I don't think anyone wants that to happen. I know I don't =).

Its just a typo, but pretty much on most beginners screens and in the center of the screen not hidden in some tertiary window pane so I am always facing this terrible error every time I play. I noticed in the upcoming Inferno patch dev blog that a screenshot has this error in it also as can be seen here (http://cdn1.eveonline.com/www/newssystem/media/63099/1/06_start_conversation.png). So it appears the error is still in the new upgraded Tutorial as well. Oh well =/

Thanks for listening =)

If you want this fixed, just make bug report at https://bugs.eveonline.com/ (also possible ingame in F12 window)

At the very least CCP will then be aware of this problem.

EDIT: Personally I like "Available to you" more. But then I never liked grammar in school. Nor is english my language. Lol

I'm no expert in Grammar but Available to you as a statement is perfectly acceptable. For me, the use of the word "for" sounds better attached to a verb (if thats the word i'm looking for)., i.e "available for use".

It's one of those things where there isn't really a set answer and it the way it is at the moment sounds better to an English ear IMHO.

Anyone with sufficient grammar skills knows that the form used in game is in fact the proper one.

Pod Pilots view non-capsuleers as mere objects to be used and disposed of anyways, so it seems fitting...

I suspect a troll - an unusual one, perhaps, but still a troll.

"Available to" is a perfectly normal and acceptable use of English.

Still, an OP criticising EVE's grammar but itself containing at least three grammatical errors and lacking some punctuation has to be worth a laugh.

Note to OP: Eve a game so anything you want is available to you.

The agents can be objectified if that's how CCP intended them to be. On the other hand it could be assumed that the agent's services are what are available to you.

I'm not sure. "Available for you" sounds awkward. It sounds like an incomplete or abbreviated thought, as if it needs an infinitive to finish it. For example, "Available for you... to interact with."
Anyway, welcome to the forums! You'll find many fellow grammarians here. A brotherhood of enraged, irate, or sometimes just peeved individuals. Smile

I get the feeling you're just trolling. Granted, an intellectual and unusual way of trolling, but still trolling. I know my grammar pretty well, and nothing I know of says that CCP's way is wrong. Even if it is "for," so many people use "to" that it's like the ending a sentence with a preposition thing.

Get lost, troll.

actually I would like to call you a hypocrite as you are the troll in that above post. You are in no way contributing to this discussion but taking away from it by 1) insulting the OP 2) more insults of the OP 3) not adding any direct counter (of which it is impossible because an error is an error is an error 4) telling someone what to do when the point of this forum is discussion not BELITTLING or deny others the right to state their true facts and/or opinions (in this case, this error is a fact not an opinion). What level of insecurity on your part deems you the ability to come into this thread and demean and humiliate someone to this level? I will be reporting your post as a flagrant trolling and your forum posts will hopefully be taken away for a period of time due the violation of the forum guidelines you have accepted by registering for these forums. Thank you and have a nice day and PLEASE grow up already =/

You are in violation of forum rules 4, 5 and 6 clearly:

4. Be respectful of others at all times.

The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others. It is possible to disagree without being insulting.

5. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated. Corporation, faction and alliance members and other players are cautioned to avoid allowing “in character” disputes from becoming "out of character" personal attacks. The game is designed for role-playing and/or portraying a role and it is sometimes easy for tempers to flare when the lines between the virtual world and the real world are crossed. Please keep in-game disputes in the game and off the forum unless it is clearly a mutual, in-character exchange.

7. Trolling is prohibited.

Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the players. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not contribute to the sense of community we want for our forums.
