Actually I just got in into PVP just to try ECM agaisnt some Minmatar ships. I love their tears. Thats my only reason to get into fights, my ECM modules.

If they nerf ECM's they should do the same with all other types of e-warfare. Also thats why they are some modules called 'ECCM'. Just saying.

ECM is great, it's the entry point for newbee pvp next to tackling. You can be effective in a small gang or large fleet with a days' worth of training.

I hate agreeing with goons, but they are right. ECM is a great tool for the game, for newbies and veterans alike..

So adapt or die. I believe is the moral.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

you need about 3 overheated eccms to even beat a falcon/kitsune

What about if they made ECM ships more like logi, instead of putting it on an enemy you put it on an ally and enemy ships have a much harder time (either locking time or chance) locking them.

Just a thought would require some serious balancing to become viable.

But you've got to admit nothing sucks more than not only running into a gate camp, but getting jammed out before you can even shoot anything.

I'm not sure what irks me more.

Oh, look. This thread again. I love them because a significant percentage of the posters and almost all of the OPs have no clear idea how ECM mechanics work.

Let me explain it. ECM doesn't work so much on your percentage to jam a target, but on your percentage to fail. Each successive jamming cycle has a exponentially reducing chance to miss. Assuming all your jammers have the same strength, the formula looks like this:

(1-(jam strength/sensor strength))^n, where n is the number of successive jamming attempts. Yes, you can play with the formula to make it look like an actual percentage. But that is irrelevant.

So with every additional jam attempt, the likelihood of missing is greatly reduced. this is why ECM drones work so well. It is also why reducing the cycle time of ECM modules would make them very OP.

Lol, bullshit. 1 T2 ECCM nearly doubles your sensor strength, thereby halving your chances of being jammed. RNG is random. The RNG gods simply haven't been kind to you. Your fault for flying minmatar, which have the weakest sensors in the game.

Target breakers + scan res damping would be frakking hilarious. At least with the current mechanics ou have a chance so long as your sensor strength is higher than their jam strength. A Falcon/Arazu combination could incapacitate 3 or more ships literally permanently.

Now imagine a Scorpion with 3 ECM mods, 3 damps, and a couple sebos.

A short story if you will allow me.

Noir was beating at CVA's door again out of boredom and they had a gate camp of 3-4 Minnie instant locking ships. 2 vaga and 2 cains I think.

I jumped into the mista system from Misaba in my shield tanked solo pvp fit curse (don't ask I enjoy it).
Suffice to say is doesn't take long to register that I'm quite screwed. I figure however that if I can just get 30km away before my tank lets up I have a chance.
I'm not being scramed so I leg it not toward the misaba gate like they assumed but out into space away from them toward a warp target.
After 20 very tense seconds I warp out with 12% shields.

Why this story and what does it have to with ECM?

Everything.

I escaped with my life because I understood the mentality of my enemies, the limits of my enemies mods and that I like the cover of hitchhikers guild to the galaxy says in big friendly letters Don't Panic!

ECM has limits both range, fall off and success rate.

It all comes down to self awareness and keeping your head.

Now you may argue, "but I'm webbed, scramed and ECM."

If your webbed and scrammed frankly without help your dead anyway so your point is moot.

Darkness is more then absence of light, it is ignorance and corruption. I will be the Bulwark from such things that you may live in the light. Pray so my arms do not grow weary and my footing remain sure.

If you are brave, join me in the dark.
